Your ultimate guide to Busan's Haeundae Blueline Park! ✨
Blueline Park Beach Train vs. Sky Capsule
Booking, Routes, and Essential Tips Compared
@ Photos, Text: Jjeongyi

Today, we're diving into Haeundae Blueline Park in Busan, a fantastic tourist spot built along an old railway line stretching approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) between Haeundae, Cheongsapo, and Songjeong!
I'll share my experience, including essential booking tips and how to ride these unique trains.
Haeundae Blueline Park features two distinct types of trains:
The <Beach Train> and the <Sky Capsule>. It can be a bit confusing to figure out the differences between them, so let's break it down! 🤔

Left: Beach Train / Right: Sky Capsule
The colorful, often Instagram-famous carriages you see are the <Sky Capsules>. These are pricier and harder to book, accommodating only 2-4 people per capsule. They operate exclusively between Mi-po (Haeundae) ⇄ Cheongsapo.
The <Beach Train> is generally easier to book and operates more like a regular train, with shared seating. However, the seats are arranged in a theater-style, facing the windows for optimal views. This train covers a longer route: Mi-po (Haeundae) ⇄ Dalmaji Tunnel ⇄ Haewol Observatory ⇄ Cheongsapo ⇄ Daritdol Observatory ⇄ Gudeokpo ⇄ Songjeong.
Both trains are incredibly popular attractions in Busan, so advance booking is essential to secure your preferred date and time. To help you decide, here's a clear comparison:

In a nutshell:
You can travel between Mi-po ↔ Cheongsapo ↔ Songjeong on the Beach Train.
If you also want to experience the Sky Capsule, purchase a separate ticket for the [Mi-po → Cheongsapo] or [Cheongsapo → Mi-po] segment.
The Beach Train offers three ticket options: 1-ride, 2-ride, and an all-stations (7-ride) pass. With the multi-ride passes, you can alight at intermediate stations, explore the area, and then re-board the train to continue your journey.
Plan your stops based on your schedule and whether you're driving. 😊
2. Beach Train Booking Tips

For the Beach Train, your first boarding can only be at Mi-po (Haeundae), Cheongsapo, or Songjeong. When you book, you'll need to specify your first boarding station and time slot.
Subsequent re-boarding at other stations is flexible and doesn't require a specific time slot.

Whether it's your first time boarding or a re-board, you must enter the station at least 10 minutes before your train's departure time.
Starting your journey at Mi-po or Songjeong means you'll likely snag a seat since these are terminal stations. However, if you start at Cheongsapo, which is an intermediate stop, there's a higher chance you'll be standing due to existing passengers.
For those driving, all three main stations offer parking. However, the Mi-po station's parking lot is a tower-style garage that cannot accommodate SUVs, so you'll need to use public or private parking lots within a 5-minute walk. (The most convenient parking is at Cheongsapo and Songjeong, where the lots are directly in front of the stations.)

When purchasing through Trip.com, there's no need to exchange for a physical ticket. You can simply use the QR code issued immediately after purchase to enter.
I bought the 7-ride pass and followed this route: [Parked at Mi-po & first boarded → Rode straight to Songjeong, explored, then re-boarded → Alighted at Cheongsapo, explored, then re-boarded → Returned to Mi-po]. If my energy levels had been higher, I would have loved to get off and explore the Haewol Observatory and Daritdol Observatory as well.
3. Sky Capsule Booking Tips

The Sky Capsule accommodates 2, 3, or 4 people per private cabin. It's perfect for slowly soaking in the ocean views and snapping those envy-inducing travel photos.
However, booking for the Sky Capsule is incredibly competitive these days. I underestimated its popularity and ended up missing out on a reservation! 🥲
New reservations open every Tuesday at 7:00 AM (local time), with tickets for a full week (Monday-Sunday) released all at once, four weeks in advance.

▲ Blueline Park Official Website: Sold Out

▲ Trip.com: Remaining tickets available! !
Even if your desired date appears sold out on the official website, don't despair! Try checking Trip.com! +.+
Trip.com, as an official partner, has a separate allocation of tickets, so you might still find availability there!
What I also appreciated was their real-time ticket inventory updates, which made the purchasing process much smoother compared to other partners.
4. Beach Train Experience Review

Alleyway
Since my first boarding was at Mi-po and I drive an SUV, I used the Mi-po public parking lot. It was about a 5-minute walk, but the alley leading to the Mi-po station was so charming, I didn't mind at all!
I paid the daily maximum of ~$5 for 5 hours of parking. (The rate is ~$0 for every 10 minutes, with a daily maximum of ~$5.) 🥲

On the way to Mi-po station,
you'll find the famous Jayeondo Salt Bread and even catch a glimpse of the stunning Oryukdo Island view, reminiscent of Cheongsapo's charm!

There's also a market operating, which adds to the fun of exploring.

At all stations, you'll find separate lines for re-boarding and first-time boarding.
My train was scheduled for 1:00 PM, and I was able to start lining up for first-time boarding about 20 minutes before departure.
⚠️ Boarding closes 10 minutes before departure, so make sure to enter the station well in advance!

The seating arrangement is theater-style, and the front row definitely offers the best views.

As you ride, you can enjoy views of all the stations, including Haewol Observatory and Daritdol Observatory, right from your seat.

After alighting at Songjeong Station, the final stop, I decided to explore another station on the way back.

I was truly amazed by how beautiful Songjeong Beach was!
After exploring, I waited in the re-boarding line at Songjeong Station and then alighted at Cheongsapo Station.

Right in front of Cheongsapo Station is a famous Busan photo spot, where you can capture a crosswalk, a passing train, and the beautiful sea all in one frame. Many tourists patiently wait for a train to pass by to get that perfect shot!

After admiring the lighthouse by the sea, I re-boarded at Cheongsapo and headed back to Mi-po.
A slight drawback is that even re-boarding passengers must enter the station 10 minutes before the train's arrival, meaning you'll always have to wait at least 10 minutes.
While trains run frequently, checking the schedule can help minimize waiting times. I personally didn't find it inconvenient even without checking it.

This wraps up my review of Busan's Haeundae Blueline Park, covering how to ride the Beach Train and booking tips for the Sky Capsule.
I highly recommend booking your tickets easily and affordably through Trip.com!
🔻
The Beach Train operates along the entire route, starting from Mipo and passing through Dalmaji Tunnel and Cheongsapo before reaching Songjeong. In contrast, the Sky Capsule only operates between Mipo and Cheongsapo.
Your first boarding is only possible at Mipo, Cheongsapo, or Songjeong stations, and you must specify a boarding time. For subsequent re-boardings, you can hop on freely without a designated time. However, for all boardings, you must complete your entry at least 10 minutes before departure.
Sky Capsule tickets are released every Tuesday at 7:00 AM for a full week's worth of dates 4 weeks in advance. If they are sold out on the official website, you can check Trip.com for remaining tickets, as they have a dedicated allocation for partners.
The parking tower at Mipo Station cannot accommodate SUVs. Therefore, you will need to use nearby public or private parking lots, which are about a 5-minute walk away. The maximum daily fee for the public parking lot is ~$5.
The 7-ride pass is highly cost-effective, costing ~$10 per person, and allows you to hop off at intermediate stations up to the number of rides purchased. It is perfect for getting off at various stations to explore nearby attractions like the Haewol Observatory or Daritdol Observatory before hopping back on the train.
