Planning your winter escape to Australia?
While it's the middle of winter in many parts of the world,
Australia is basking in warm summer sunshine –
so I bet many of you have already booked your flights!
With direct flights to Brisbane from many countries,
it's a popular choice for many global explorers to kick off their Australian adventure
right here in Brisbane.
Today, I'm excited to share with you a perfect, compact
3-day, 2-night itinerary,
along with all the essential packing tips and budget insights you'll need!

First up, let's dive into three absolute must-have items
for your Brisbane trip!
1. Cooking Utensils
Dining out in Australia can be quite pricey.
On the flip side, meat is relatively affordable,
so many travelers opt to cook their own meals at their hotel.
In most of the hotels I stayed at,
you won't find tongs or scissors for cooking meat.
My tip? Grab a cheap set from a discount store like Daiso before you go,
and you can simply dispose of them locally when you're done!
2. Single-Serving Condiments & Oil
Next up: single-serving condiments and cooking oil.
While most hotels with cooking facilities provide
basic utensils and frying pans, they often lack oil and seasonings.
Buying large bottles locally can be a hassle,
so bringing small packets of salt or mini bottles of oil
will make cooking much more convenient!
3. Travel Adapter
And finally, don't forget your Australia-specific
travel adapter.
While it might look similar to the 'pig nose' plug used in Japan,
the prongs are angled differently, so you absolutely must
bring a dedicated adapter!
Next, let's talk about where to find the best accommodation in the city.

You'll find that choosing accommodation anywhere within this zone
will ensure a comfortable and convenient travel experience.
I personally stayed at a fantastic five-star hotel called
'Meriton Suites Herschel Street'.
▶️ Despite being a 5-star hotel, it often costs less than ~$138 per night on weekdays,
offering incredible value. Plus, the rooms are exceptionally spacious, often more like two-room apartments,
which made my stay incredibly satisfying!
(And yes, it has full cooking facilities!)
With a Woolworths supermarket nearby and close proximity to the city's main shopping districts,
you'll find everything you need right at your doorstep.

Now, let's dive into the exciting part: your comprehensive 3-day, 2-night
itinerary and recommended routes!
First up, Day 1 is all about exploring the city's iconic
sights and attractions.
We landed at Brisbane Airport and opted for a tour that
combined airport pickup with a city tour.
This tour took us to iconic city spots like
the Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-tha Lookout,
South Bank, and Kangaroo Point.
Arriving at the airport in the morning and then having to drop off luggage at our accommodation
would have been a hassle for independent travel,
so I was personally very happy with how convenient it was!
👉🏻 If you're on a short 2-night, 3-day trip,
a pickup tour on the first day, just like I did, could be a great option.
After the tour, we headed to Woolworths, conveniently located
near our accommodation, to pick up some quick lunch items and
ingredients for dinner.
If you've booked accommodation with cooking facilities,
it's a great idea to buy some beef or lamb in advance and
cook it up for dinner, right?
After dinner, we joined the free Clock Tower tour at Brisbane City Hall.

It's a quick tour, only about 15 minutes, but
you get to ride in an elevator that's almost a century old and
the highlight is definitely the panoramic city views you'll get to enjoy!
Afterward, we took a leisurely stroll around the city center before
stopping by Felons Brewing Co., which boasts stunning night views.
You don't even have to order food,
so simply grab a refreshing beer or two and
take in the incredible Story Bridge view,
you'll find yourself spontaneously saying, 'Brisbane is amazing, isn't it?'
For dinner, simply head back to your accommodation,
whip up a simple steak,
and that's Day 1 wrapped up!

Day 2 was all about a Brisbane day trip.
Before our tour began, we made an early morning stop at Brisbane's famous eatery,
'O Bagel', for some delicious takeout.
The 'G-Morning' item I tried
was incredibly satisfying with its generous ingredients and portion size – I highly recommend it!
After our meal, we took a leisurely stroll through the city's large park,
Roma Street Parkland.
You can see tropical plants and even animals,
and soak in the relaxed picnic vibes of the locals.
It's definitely a park worth visiting at least once.
Next up, I embarked on the tour I was most excited about in Brisbane:
the Springbrook and Tamborine Mountain Tour.
From the brewery and Gallery Walk to the Glow Worm Caves,
it offered truly unique experiences.
Our first stop was Fortitude Brewery,
where I sampled a variety of craft beers.
The staff taking orders were incredibly cheerful,
and each beer had its own distinct flavor, making for a truly enjoyable time.
After that, we spent about an hour wandering through the Gallery Walk,
browsing specialty shops and souvenir stores.
There were antique clock shops and delicious dessert places too,
so if you love cute and unique items, you'll be delighted!
Next, we visited the Springbrook rainforest region,
and it felt truly amazing, like stepping right into a Jurassic Park movie.
Since I came to experience Australia's magnificent nature,
this course was absolutely perfect for me.
The final stop was exploring the Glow Worm Caves.
Though it's hard to capture in photos, inside the completely dark cave,
you can witness hundreds, even thousands, of blue-glowing glow worms.
It was an experience even more wondrous than seeing the star-filled night sky in Australia,
a memory that still sticks with me today.
We arrived back in the city late in the evening,
grabbed a quick late-night snack from a convenience store,
and wrapped up our second day.

Our final, third day was dedicated to traveling to Sydney.
Since we had an early morning flight booked,
we took an Uber taxi to the airport.
Taking an early morning flight meant we got to enjoy coffee at the airport while watching the Australian sunrise.
The sun was absolutely huge when it rose,
making even a regular sunrise feel incredibly atmospheric and special!

During our 2-night, 3-day trip to Brisbane, Australia,
📌 the total expenses for two people came to 727.06 AUD + ~$350,
which is a total of ~$827. (Based on 1 AUD=950 KRW)
Given that our actual stay was just two days,
it works out to spending about ~$207 per person per day.
This was partly because accommodation was pricey due to a public holiday,
and also because with a shorter trip,
we packed in lots of tours to see everything we wanted.
Still, to save on costs, we opted to buy groceries from the supermarket and cook our own meals rather than always eating out.
