Bongpo Beach
Your spot for personal sunshades, tent setup, and fantastic snorkeling!
Searching for the perfect spot to celebrate my husband's birthday, I stumbled upon Bongpo Beach in Goseong. I was thrilled to find a beach where we could set up our own tent and parasol!
Our plan was simple: enjoy a refreshing swim in the ocean, then retreat to our tent for some ultimate relaxation. And so, we set off for Bongpo Beach in Goseong.

Parking Information
To find it, just search for 'Bongpo Port Parking Lot' and you'll find the parking right next to Bongpo Beach.
Parking is completely free!

Since we visited on a weekday, there was plenty of parking available. However, because it's free, I heard it fills up quickly on weekends, so it's best to arrive before 10:00 AM if you want to snag a spot.
So, if you're not staying at a nearby pension, I highly recommend arriving early to secure your parking.

I loved that there's a direct exit from the parking lot straight to the beachfront!
Bongpo Beach Guest Information

The area near the breakwater is an excellent spot for snorkeling.
The water isn't too deep, and we saw children easily collecting shells and observing marine life. If you're looking to snorkel with kids, Bongpo Beach is perfect – it's not overly crowded, the depth is just right, and the sand is beautifully fine. Highly recommended!👍🏻

You'll first notice these Mongolian tents with flat platforms available for rent. They provide excellent shade, making them a great option if you're traveling with a family of four or more...👍🏻

Tubes and life jackets are also available for rent. You can pay via bank transfer.
Rental Item Prices | |
Mongolian Tent + Flat Platform | ~$83 |
Flat Platform + Parasol | ~$35 |
Tube (per item) | ~$7 |
Life Jacket (per item) | ~$7 |

We rented a tube ourselves! There were some beautifully colored tubes mixed in, so you can pick your favorite.

The restrooms are separated for men and women, and they were quite decent.
Right next to them are the men's and women's showers. Although it was labeled as 'Hot Water Shower,' there was another sign over it saying 'Cold Water Shower,' so it seems only cold water was available.
Here are the prices for both hot and cold showers:
Shower Facility Fees | |
Hot Water (Adult) | ~$3 |
Hot Water (Child) | ~$2 |
Cold Water (Adult) | ~$2 |
Cold Water (Child) | ~$1 |

If you walk a bit further past the information banners, you'll see another banner indicating the 'Personal Tent Setup Zone.'

Past this sign and the tube rental area, you'll reach the personal tent zone. It might seem a bit far, but it's only about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot entrance!

Voila! Our tent was set up. The area isn't massive, so it's not exactly an ocean-front view, but just having my own tent on the beach and lounging inside felt incredibly blissful.
After inflating our arm floats, it was time to dive into the ocean!

The water here is truly crystal clear. I usually dislike beaches with too many rocks or coral, but the sand here is so fine that it's comfortable underfoot.
Plus, near the breakwater on the right, the snorkeling spot had quite a few fish and interesting things to discover!
This makes it an absolutely fantastic beach for both swimming and snorkeling. I'm already planning to bring my full snorkeling gear next year – I've completely fallen in love with this place!

My husband and I just floated around for a while, then headed back to our tent to relax. This is what happiness feels like...💙🤍
