Blue Mountains Tour Sydney Review 2026: No Car Needed

When planning a trip to Sydney,

you can't help but wonder:

"Is the Blue Mountains really a must-visit?"

I also spent so much time debating

whether to add this tour to my itinerary,

but long story short: I would have seriously regretted it if I hadn't gone.

Meeting adorable koalas at Featherdale,

feeding kangaroos while snapping pictures,

and taking in the breathtaking views right in front of the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains...

those moments are still so vivid in my mind.

Today, I'm sharing my personal experience with this tour—

breaking down everything from the pickup process to the actual itinerary!

Why You Absolutely Need to Do This Tour in Sydney

Honestly, you can explore most of downtown Sydney—

like the Opera House and Harbour Bridge—in just a day or two.

But the Blue Mountains is about a 2-hour drive from the city center,

making it a bit tricky to visit on your own.

Renting a car feels like a hassle,

and taking public transit just takes way too long...

Since we were on a short summer getaway,

we didn't want to waste precious time driving,

so we opted for a guided tour.

And looking back, that was definitely the right move.

With our guide taking care of all the driving,

we could just sit back, chat, enjoy the views out the window,

and hop off to take pictures whenever we wanted.

How does the pickup and tour actually work?

Pickups are available from major hotels in downtown Sydney.

If you enter your accommodation details when booking,

they will let you know the exact pickup availability and time.

If you're staying right in the city center,

most places fall within the pickup zone!

We stayed near Darling Harbour,

and it only took us about 5 minutes to walk to the pickup point.

Our very first stop after pickup

was the Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park.

Here, you can get up close to adorable koalas

and snap some photos!

You can get a photo with a koala for $25,

and you can even get a unique shot with a cute wombat.

Highly recommend bringing some cash!

In the kangaroo area, you can feed and pet them,

so if you're traveling as a couple, you'll end up taking tons of photos here!

became one of our absolute favorite memories of the entire trip!

Once we wrapped up at Featherdale,

we headed straight for the Blue Mountains.

During the drive, the guide shared interesting stories about

the surrounding areas and Sydney’s suburbs.

Just listening while looking out the window made the time fly by.

Upon arriving at the Blue Mountains, we visited Echo Point,

where we took in the breathtaking views

of the iconic Three Sisters.

Seeing the vast, blue-misted valley created by the eucalyptus forest

unfold right before my eyes was surreal!

It was so much more majestic than any of the photos

I saw while planning my Sydney trip. Truly spectacular!

Next, we had some free time for dinner in Katoomba,

the most bustling town in the Blue Mountains.

Then came the real highlight of the tour:

sunset time!

Watching the Blue Mountains glow in shades of deep orange during the golden hour

from a secret spot our guide picked out was magical.

We ended up taking the most photos of our trip during this time!

Once the sun fully sets, it’s time for stargazing.

Because the Blue Mountains are at a high altitude,

the stars look incredibly close and vivid.

It was such a romantic experience!

If the weather doesn't cooperate and stargazing isn't possible,

they substitute it with a city night-view tour,

so you don't have to worry even on cloudy days.

We returned to the city between 9:00 PM and 11:30 PM,

and drop-off is at or near the meeting point.

This tour is highly recommended if you:
