Among them, Bar Sport stands out – a place that's consistently buzzing with customers from open to close. Here's my take on this vibrant spot!

Bar Sport has even been featured on popular shows, consistently ranking as a top earner among its competitors.
Operating hours vary slightly by day, but a huge plus is that they're open on Sundays and Mondays.
Many of San Sebastian's fantastic eateries close on Sundays and Mondays, which can severely limit your options if you're traveling during those days. It's truly convenient that Bar Sport closes on Wednesdays instead.
2. What to Order at Bar Sport
Similar to other pintxo bars, Bar Sport's display cases are overflowing with cold pintxos, while hot options can be ordered separately. The menu is incredibly extensive!
Interestingly, San Sebastian attracts a significant number of Japanese tourists, and many establishments, including Bar Sport, offer Japanese menus to cater to international visitors.
We ordered quite a spread! On the left, you'll see the Gilda, often considered the original pintxo – a delicious skewer of olives, anchovies, and guindilla peppers. On the right, a pintxo topped with morcilla, a Spanish blood sausage. Both were absolutely delicious!
Personally, the Gilda's salty kick was right up my alley, so I found myself ordering it repeatedly.
On the left is their signature Foie Gras pintxo. Many pintxo bars in San Sebastian offer foie gras, and honestly, it's consistently incredible no matter where you try it. I highly recommend ordering it, even if it's not at Bar Sport!
On the right, we tried the Sea Urchin Cream pintxo... but honestly, it didn't quite hit the mark for what most international visitors expect from sea urchin. I'd probably skip this one.
After finishing a glass of Txakoli, we ordered another round of Tinto de Verano. If you find ordering challenging, don't hesitate to point at the pintxos in the display case – it's a perfectly acceptable way to get what you want!
We also indulged in a sardine pintxo, croquetas, and a stuffed squid pintxo. We truly ate a lot! Generally, most squid dishes in Spain are fantastic, so if you're a picky eater, these are usually a safe and delicious bet!
Bar Sport is incredibly famous and offers a diverse menu, making it an excellent starting point for your pintxo bar tour. Just try 2-3 items here, then move on to explore other incredible pintxo bars! (And a little tip: the mushrooms you see everywhere are almost always delicious!)
3. If You're Visiting San Sebastian
San Sebastian is often called the city with the most Michelin stars per square mile, and it certainly lives up to its reputation with amazing food everywhere you turn. That's why it feels almost a shame to stay too long in just one place.
My husband and I are huge foodies and ordered a ton here, but I truly recommend trying a signature dish or two at each bar to experience as many different pintxo spots as possible! :)

Bar Sport operates from 9 AM to 11 PM, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, it's open from 9 AM to 11:30 PM. Saturdays, it opens from 10 AM to 11:30 PM, and Sundays from 11 AM to 11 PM. It is closed every Wednesday.
At Bar Sport, we recommend the savory Gilda, the Morcilla pintxo topped with Spanish blood sausage, and their signature Foie Gras pintxo. Squid and mushroom pintxos have also been mentioned as delicious. On the other hand, the sea urchin cream pintxo is not recommended as it might not meet the expectations of Koreans.
Bar Sport was featured on the program 'Business Genius Baeksajang' and has the advantage of not being closed on Sundays and Mondays, unlike many other popular restaurants. It attracts many Japanese tourists, so a Japanese menu is also available. If you find ordering difficult, it's perfectly fine to simply point at the pintxos in the display case.
