While any spot along the coast offers healing views of the deep blue sea,

I wanted to skip the overly crowded, generic hotspots

and share a hidden destination in Goseong

that most travelers still don't know about.

It requires driving about 30 miles north of central Sokcho (around 50 minutes),

but let me tell you, this place is absolutely worth the journey!

1. Goseong Must-Visit: Baekseom Maritime Observatory

It was a heavily overcast day when we visited,

and with rain in the forecast,

I seriously debated whether it was worth driving to a scenic overlook.

But we went with that classic traveler's motto:

"We're already here, let's just go!" and set our GPS.

To be honest, we didn't plan this stop beforehand.

My dad, who loves finding hidden gems just by scanning navigation maps,

suggested we check out this coastal point.

I trusted his instincts, and wow, did he deliver!

This was none other than Goseong's Baekseom Maritime Observatory.

The wooden deck leading out to the island is beautifully maintained,

making it an incredibly pleasant coastal walk! 👍🏼

For parking, we saw some roadside spots along the shoulder

and parked there before walking over to the deck.

However, we soon realized there is a dedicated parking lot

located right near the entrance of the observatory.

With the sky looking ready to pour at any moment,

I wasn't expecting much from the water color.

But Goseong's ocean is truly on another level.

Even under gloomy, overcast skies,

the water remained unbelievably transparent

and glowed with a brilliant jade-green hue.

You could see all the way to the rocky seabed,

which actually gave me a slight, thrilling sense of vertigo! 👀

If it looks this spectacular on a cloudy day,

I can't even fathom how gorgeous it must be under clear blue skies.

I'm already planning a return trip

on a perfectly sunny day!

A Thrilling Ocean Walkway

As you walk along the deck extending over the crashing waves,

you'll encounter sections with a completely transparent floor.

It adds an unexpected splash of adrenaline to the scenic walk,

so make sure to look down and feel the thrill when you visit! h.h

There's also a cute photo zone set up along the deck,

which is a great spot to snap a quick memory.

Since this spot is located quite far north in Goseong,

it remains incredibly peaceful and uncrowded

even during peak summer weekends compared to other major landmarks.

If you are looking to escape the suffocating tourist crowds,

there is really no better region than Goseong.

If it looks this breathtaking on a cloudy day,

I can only imagine how insanely beautiful

it must look when the sun is fully out.

Listening to the rhythm of the waves while walking along the deck

instantly clears your mind and leaves you feeling refreshed.

I highly recommend making the trip.

Though the weather didn't fully cooperate for my photos,

Since you've driven all this way,

it would be a shame to leave after just seeing the observatory, right?

Geojin Beach.

It's located just a stone's throw away

from the Baekseom Maritime Observatory,

Laying out a picnic blanket here feels incredibly peaceful,
