Hello, I'm Lisa, your travel blogger!
As I was planning my trip to Auckland, New Zealand,
one of the first things I had to consider was
'how to get from the airport to the city!'
Auckland Airport is a bit far from the city center,
so it's convenient to decide on your transportation beforehand.
In this post, I'll share:
1️⃣ A comparison of 4 ways to get from
Auckland Airport to the city
(Super Shuttle, Uber, SkyDrive, Private Car)
2️⃣ My personal experience and how to book the
Super Shuttle (which I used!)
3️⃣ Tips for booking a private car
with a Korean driver
I've put together detailed information so you can choose the best transportation method for your travel style, so stick with me until the end!
1. 4 Ways to Get from Auckland Airport to the City Center

1️⃣ Super Shuttle
✔️ Price: ~$7 - ~$21 per person
(gets cheaper with more people)
💰 35 NZD per person
For 4 people - ~$12 per person
✔️ Duration: Approximately 30-40 minutes
(travel time may vary as you share with other passengers)
✔️ Pros: Pre-booking available, relatively affordable
✔️ Cons: Since it picks up and drops off multiple passengers,
it might not be a direct route to your destination.
➙ This was the transportation method I ultimately chose.
Considering both price and convenience,
it offered the best value.
I'll go into more detail about how to book and my review below!

2️⃣ Uber Taxi
✔️ Price: ~$28 - ~$41 per car
varies depending on distance and time to the city.
✔️ Duration: Approximately 25-30 minutes
✔️ Pros: Direct travel to your destination,
comfortable and convenient.
✔️ Cons: Prices can surge during peak hours.
➙ Recommended for 1-2 people! However, for 3-4 or more people,
you might need two cars, which increases the cost.

3️⃣ SkyDrive Bus
✔️ Price: Approximately ~$11 per person
(20 NZD)
✔️ Duration: Approximately 40-50 minutes
✔️ Pros: Official bus service departing from the airport,
operates on a fixed schedule. One bus every 30 minutes.
✔️ Cons: Can be inconvenient with a lot of luggage,
and you'll be dropped off at a bus stop, not directly in front of your hotel,
so you'll have to walk.
➙ The most affordable option!
However, it can be uncomfortable with heavy luggage,
and travel time might be longer.

4️⃣ Private Airport Transfer
✔️ Price: For 4 people, approximately ~$9 per person
✔️ Duration: Approximately 25-30 minutes
✔️ Pros: Direct transfer from airport pickup to your hotel,
option to choose your vehicle
✔️ Cons: Relatively more expensive compared to Super Shuttle or public transportation.
➙ Recommended for groups of 4 or more!
For just an additional ~$7 - ~$14 per person compared to the Super Shuttle,
you can travel much more conveniently!
2. How to Book the Super Shuttle
The Super Shuttle is the most hassle-free way to get around from the airport! I ended up choosing this one.

📌 Why I Chose the Auckland Airport Super Shuttle
✅ You can be dropped off directly in front of your hotel
✅ Reasonable price point
📌How to Book SuperShuttle
1️⃣ Go to the SuperShuttle Official Website
2️⃣ Enter your departure point and hotel address
3️⃣ Select the number of people and check the fare
(The more people, the cheaper it gets!)

4️⃣ Complete your reservation after payment!
🌟 You can also book on the spot,
but it's even better to book in advance!
3. My Experience Using Auckland SuperShuttle

Arrived at Auckland Airport!
Auckland Airport isn't as sprawling as Incheon International Airport,
so it's easy to navigate.
I'll be posting about my direct flight experience from Incheon to Auckland
soon, so stay tuned~!

After exiting Auckland Airport, if you head left,
you'll easily spot the SuperShuttle signs.

Stepping out of the airport, I was greeted by
the bright, clear sky ☀️☀️
Auckland's weather in March is
truly stunning.

Following the 'super shuttle' signs,
you'll walk right up to where the
SuperShuttle vans are parked.

Your luggage will go into the trailer compartment at the back left.
If you have more people, the cost becomes cheaper by up to $20.

Just tell the staff your booking name,
and once confirmed, they'll tell you to board.
💡 In New Zealand, when confirming a booking name,
they usually ask for your last name.
At that point, just provide your family name.
So, for me, it's Han! Han!

After loading my luggage onto the Auckland SuperShuttle,
I boarded the van and waited.
(since you share the ride with other passengers)

Including us, a total of three groups boarded,
and since most were staying at city hotels,
the driver randomly determined the drop-off order.

💡 Overall Review!
Great value for money!
The driver was very friendly,
and the vehicle was perfectly comfortable.
However, if luck isn't on your side, your drop-off order
might be pushed back, meaning a slightly later arrival at your hotel.
(Yep, that happened to me 😭)

4. Tip for Booking a Private Car with a Korean Driver

If Super Shuttle isn't ideal for you,
or you're seeking a more comfortable journey?
Opting for a private car service
operated by a Korean driver
is also an excellent option!
Unfortunately, my family discovered this option
after already booking the Super Shuttle,
so we sadly couldn't use it 😭
For a group of 4, adding just about ~$7 per person
extra means a private driver will be waiting for you,
and they'll provide exclusive pick-up and drop-off directly to your hotel.
6. Wrapping Up
In this post, I've shared insights on four ways to get from the airport to the city
during your New Zealand Auckland trip!
I've compared Super Shuttle, Uber, SkyDrive, and private car services,
