Abeer Restaurant consistently pops up when you search for dining spots in Aswan.
It's famous among international travelers, but equally popular with locals, making it a truly authentic Egyptian barbecue experience.
Tucked away in a bustling market alley, it offers a genuine taste of local atmosphere.
2. Menu Highlights
Here's one of the most heartwarming aspects of dining here:
The prices on the local menu are identical to the English menu!

3. My Dining Experience

Following a staff member into the alley, you'll find the restaurant entrance.
The dining area has small tables clustered together, and while it's cozy, it didn't feel cramped.
There's even a handwashing station, which was a nice touch for hygiene.

Before your main course, you're served appetizer bread + hummus + salad.
While the appetizer bread was just okay,
the hummus was absolutely divine!
Scoop it generously with the bread, and it'll disappear in no time.

1/2 CHICKEN + SALAD
Crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside!!
Even the chicken breast, which can often be dry, was unbelievably tender.
The subtle smoky aroma and the rich charcoal flavor were simply outstanding.

1/4 KOFTA + SALAD
I was initially concerned about the portion size for 1/4 Kofta, but it was surprisingly generous – a pleasant surprise!
The chewy, savory Kofta paired with the appetizer bread is a match made in heaven.
Dipping the rich meat into the wholesome hummus makes for one of the most memorable flavors of my Egyptian trip.
The pineapple-flavored Schweppes that I'd heard so much about online was, honestly, not my favorite.
Instead, I tried the pomegranate-flavored Schweppes from a local market,
and found it much more to my taste.
4. Final Thoughts

For around ~$7, I got Kofta + Chicken + 2 drinks!
This was easily one of my top three dining experiences in all of Egypt!
If you find yourself in Aswan, you absolutely must visit Abeer Restaurant!
Also, check out the nut shop to the right of the restaurant; it's a great spot to pick up nuts or peanuts as souvenirs.
