1. Why We Chose Arlo SoHo as Our Budget New York Accommodation

As I mentioned, my spouse and I took our honeymoon trip to New York during the holiday season. We quickly found that most decent hotels were easily ~$256 or more per night. What was truly surprising was that even some guesthouses were charging around ~$256 – for a dormitory-style room! That just didn't sit right with us.

So, after a lot of searching, I managed to unearth this fantastic budget-friendly hotel in New York.

Here's why Arlo SoHo stood out to us:

1. Reliable Hotel Chain: Being a part of the reputable Arlo hotel chain gave us confidence in the quality and service we could expect.

2. Excellent Location: It's conveniently located near the Canal St. and Spring St. subway stations. New York City is quite long, so having easy access to different subway lines is crucial. This location makes it super easy to explore Midtown and Times Square initially, then effortlessly head downtown to visit attractions in the southern parts of Manhattan.

3. Unbeatable Value in NYC!: This was the biggest selling point. Even during the Christmas holiday season, which is notoriously expensive, we managed to snag two nights for just a little over $400. That's an incredible deal for New York!

Prices can fluctuate quite a bit depending on the dates, but as of Summer 2026, you can expect to find rates around ~$199 per night on weekdays in August, and ~$276 for weekend nights (Friday-Sunday).

2. Checking In at Arlo SoHo, Our New York Hotel Pick

On the day we checked into Arlo SoHo, we spent the morning at MoMA, then picked up our luggage and headed over. You can tell right away it feels like a stylish, modern hotel, can't you?

Since it was Christmas Eve, the lobby was bustling with tourists, both international and domestic. And because it was the holiday season, they even had festive cookies and hot chocolate available in the lobby – such a sweet touch! ❤️

3. Arlo SoHo Room Condition: A Budget-Friendly New York Hotel

Since we were in New York for our honeymoon, I made sure to add a 'honeymoon' note to all our hotel bookings. Arlo SoHo was actually the only place that truly made us feel special!

They had a lovely little setup, complete with a handwritten note. It was a small gesture, but it really showed their thoughtfulness and made our stay extra memorable. ❤️

And get this – they even had fortune cookies! It was a fun little bonus, and we enjoyed peeking into our 2026 fortunes. 😉

Now, let's talk about the room itself...

The room is definitely on the compact side. There isn't really ample space to spread out multiple large suitcases 🤣. We had two large suitcases and one smaller carry-on. We managed to tuck one large suitcase under the bed, kept another half-open in front of the mirror, and placed the smaller one on the desk chair – it was a bit of a Tetris game!

As you enter, the sink and a small desk are to your left. The desk had two power outlets, which was handy for charging our devices.

Behind the sink area, you'll find the toilet and shower. These two spaces are separated only by a shower curtain, so you have to be careful not to let water splash into the toilet area. Despite the very compact size, considering the price point for a New York hotel, it was perfectly comfortable and manageable for our stay.

But what I loved most about the room was this incredible view right from beside the bed! 👇

The room is angled towards the street, offering a surprisingly open view. From our window, we could even catch a glimpse of the Hudson River in the distance, enjoying the clear New York sky.
