Hey there, global explorers! Ssoejini the traveler here :)
As you're planning your unforgettable New York adventure,
the iconic American Museum of Natural History
is probably on everyone's must-see list, isn't it?
The legendary setting from
Night at the Museum!

For my own NYC trip, the American Museum of Natural History was
absolutely my top priority.
But when it came time to book, navigating the official English website felt a bit daunting.
Was it a paper ticket exchange after payment, or an e-ticket?
The lack of clear information left me a little frustrated.
But don't worry, I've got you covered with the latest admission info
and even tips on how to change your tickets if needed!
I'll share all my booking secrets with you!
1. American Museum of Natural History: Essential Info & Platform Price Comparison

You probably already know that the American Museum of Natural History is a New York essential,
so instead of dwelling on that, I'll dive straight into what I found most crucial:
the ticket prices!
I've compared prices between the official website and other platforms.
While there isn't a dramatic difference in price,
if you're using a discount coupon, buying from outside the US
can actually be a little cheaper!
Category | Official Website | Klook |
Adult Price | $30 (approximately ~$30) | Lowest price with discount code |
Ticket Collection | Enter details in English / Voucher | On-site paper ticket exchange |
Entry Method | Possible wait at booth | Exchange at ticket counter line |
💡 Ssoejini's Smart Choice Guide!
Want to snag an extra discount?
➔ Then go for Klook with a discount code, but
be prepared for the slight hassle of exchanging your voucher for a physical paper ticket at the on-site ticket counter.

세시간전260002 / For purchases over ~$73
세시간전260003 / For purchases over ~$146
Dropping those discount codes right here -!
Why Klook, you ask?

Klook offers tickets for the exciting new exhibition,
"Collision: The End of the Dinosaur Era,"
which is now conveniently bundled into the general admission + special exhibition ticket, and you can easily choose this option!
2. American Museum of Natural History: Operating Hours & Location

The American Museum of Natural History is open every single day, year-round, making it incredibly flexible for your itinerary.
Operating Hours: Daily 10:00 ~ 17:30
Location: 200 Central Park W, New York, NY 10024

3. My Top Tip to Skip the Line and Save an Hour!

Always, always use the "side entrance"!
Most visitors head straight for the grand main staircase entrance, the one you see in all the movies.
But trust me, that spot is always bustling with tourists snapping photos and waiting in long lines.
If you walk around to a side entrance (or even the back of the building),
you can often walk right in with almost no wait!
Speaking from experience, as someone who once wasted ages queuing in the scorching sun at the main entrance,
this is my genuine, tried-and-true tip for you...

Avoid entering after 2 PM (Open Run Recommended)
Large group tours
usually flock in around 2 PM.
If you want to explore at your own pace,
I highly recommend being there for the 10 AM opening or visiting in the morning.
4. Recommended Viewing Route for 'Night at the Museum'
The interior is truly immense,
and a single day isn't enough to see everything.
If you're an independent traveler with limited time,
follow the route below!
[4th Floor Dinosaur Halls]
➔ [1st-2nd Floor Milstein Hall of Ocean Life]
➔ [Culture Hall & Planetarium]

4th Floor Dinosaur Halls
Most people start from the 1st floor,
but as soon as you enter, take the elevator
and head straight to the 4th-floor Dinosaur Hall!

The area in front of the real Tyrannosaurus fossil
gets crowded with children and visitors in the afternoon.
While others are figuring things out downstairs, my recommended route is to go up to the 4th floor and take your time capturing photos of the magnificent
T-Rex fossil before coming back down.

1st-2nd Floor Milstein Hall of Ocean Life
This hall recreates real habitats,
and the giant whale model hanging from the ceiling is truly magnificent.

The elephant model is even more impressive when viewed from the 2nd floor, looking down,
rather than from below.
The Planetarium (Hayden Planetarium)
Showtimes are fixed, so as soon as you enter,
check the schedule at the on-site ticket booth,
or check it in advance using the app.
Ssoejini's Quick Insider Tips!

Free Guided Tours
Free tours run every hour
between 10:15 AM and 3:15 PM.
(Subject to change)
These are also known as docent tours,
and if you want more detailed explanations,
it's great to opt for a paid tour too!
Getting explanations in your preferred language... that's truly the best...!

+ This is genuinely important information,
my friend visited recently and told me this!
If you purchased through a platform, you need to exchange it for a paper ticket,
and entry was only possible via the main gate!
Any information saying you can enter with a QR code
is incorrect!
Even if you bought through Klook, you *must* exchange it for a physical ticket
at the on-site ticket office!
Don't feel annoyed by this,
instead, think of it as making the ticket a souvenir
to remember your trip by, which I actually think is great~!
Positive vibes..♥
So, have a smart and budget-friendly
trip enjoying New York :)
