New York & Cancun Honeymoon Series #5
Hey everyone, it's Bamkki!
With travel expenses rising, planning a multi-destination honeymoon like
New York and Cancun can get incredibly expensive.
Since wedding planning already drains the wallet,
it is smart to save money wherever possible, right?
Here is exactly how I saved on our Cancun honeymoon expenses 👇
Honest Review of Aloft Cancun Aloft Cancun |
For our 6-night stay in Cancun, I split our itinerary into:
4 nights at an All-Inclusive resort
2 nights at a budget-friendly Hotel Zone stay
to balance our budget.
Since we planned a full-day excursion on one of the days,
we barely spent any time at the hotel.
Paying for an all-inclusive resort on a day we'd be out for 14 hours felt like a waste!
(And yes, that Chichen Itza tour really did take 14 hours... haha.)
So, the budget hotel I chose was
Aloft Cancun
Pros of Aloft Cancun |
📍 Aloft Cancun
Blvd. Kukulcan KM 9-Mz 48 L-8-1, Punta Cancun, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico
My reasons for choosing Aloft Cancun were clear:
1. Affordability (around ~$128 per night)
2. Easy tour pickup and drop-off location
3. Extremely close to the Chedraui supermarket
4. Just steps away from Coco Bongo
Super practical, right?
While there were slightly cheaper options nearby,
since Aloft is a Marriott brand,
I knew the service and room conditions would be reliable.
Lobby & Check-In |
For our transfer from Cancun Airport to the hotel,
we booked a private pickup and sending service.
You can book the transfer here.
The shuttle dropped us off right at the entrance,
making check-in quick and seamless.

During check-in, they served us a welcome drink
that tasted like sugar-free peach juice.
After eating heavily seasoned food in New York,
this light, refreshing drink felt like a nice change of pace! haha.

The lobby has a very casual and trendy vibe.
There is a spacious common area
complete with a pool table,
so we saw quite a few guests hanging out there.

And yes, that included me!
I had some online tasks to finish up,
but since our room's lighting was quite dim,
I headed down to the lobby with my laptop and a coffee. :)
It works perfectly as a business-friendly hotel too!
Room Condition |
We booked the
Aloft Cancun Two Queen Beds Room,
mostly because it was the cheapest option available.

There wasn't much of a view directly from our window,
but we caught beautiful glimpses of the ocean
between the surrounding hotels from the hallway.
(Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of that!)

When you walk in,
the two queen beds are on the left,
while the work desk and luggage area are on the right.
Though not pictured here,
there was also a cozy sofa and a small coffee table near the window.

The lighting was limited to this main fixture and the bedside lamps,
which made it a bit too dim for working on a laptop... haha.

An iron and ironing board were provided (though we didn't use them).
They also supplied two complimentary bottles of water daily,
and there was a standard coffee pot
which we happily used to make cup noodles on our last night! 🤣🤣

The bathroom was exceptionally clean and fresh.
The housekeeping staff left a cute little drawing on the mirror,
which put a huge smile on our faces right after check-in!

We were provided with 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels.
Standard amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted in the shower.
Just a heads up: like many hotels in North America,
the hair care products weren't the most hydrating, so you might want to bring your own!
Rooftop Pool |
Because we checked in late,
the weather was a bit chilly, and our second day was fully booked with tours,
we didn't get to swim.
However, Aloft Cancun does feature a rooftop pool area.

It's not a massive, luxurious infinity pool
like you might find at the 5-star resorts,
but rather a cozy, straightforward pool on the rooftop.
Still a great spot to catch some sun!

There are also two or three currency exchange booths right in front of the hotel.
If you are looking for a reliable, value-for-money stay in Cancun's Hotel Zone,
I highly recommend booking Aloft Cancun
for a hassle-free experience!
