Alipay Card Registration Method (Beginner's Guide)

Registering your card with Alipay is actually much simpler than you might think.

✅️ Install the app and sign up for an account.

✅️ Tap 'Account' at the bottom, then click 'Bank Cards'.

✅️ Inside 'Bank Card', click the '+' button to add a new card.

✅️ Enter your name and card number, then hit 'Agree & Add'. Your Alipay card registration is complete!

✅️ You'll see "Added successfully" confirming it worked.

This can be a bit confusing, so here's the essential breakdown:

When paying through Alipay:

✅️ Payments under 200 CNY → No transaction fee

✅️ Payments 200 CNY or more → A 3% transaction fee applies

✅️ For purchases of 200 CNY or more, we recommend using a physical credit/debit card.

When using a physical card, opt for one that offers no foreign transaction fees. Many travel-specific cards from major banks or fintech companies provide this benefit, saving you money on currency exchange and international payment charges.

Therefore, for your trip to China, we highly recommend carrying both the Alipay app on your phone and a physical card, giving you the best of both worlds!
