I attempted to check in online the day before departure, but Shandong Airlines' online check-in was only available for those with a Chinese ID. Since it wasn't an option for non-Chinese nationals, I headed to the airport to catch the counter opening time.

Our flight, SC8014, continued to Sanya after arriving in Jinan, so there were many passengers on board heading all the way to Sanya.

For Economy Class, the baggage allowance was generous:

one carry-on bag up to 11 lbs (5 kg), and one checked bag up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

Most budget airlines typically allow only 33 lbs (15 kg) for checked luggage, so it was a pleasant surprise to get such a generous allowance from a Chinese airline.

The flight departs from Incheon Airport Terminal 1, and with a flight time of just 1 hour and 45 minutes, it's a wonderfully quick way to reach your destination.

02. 3-3 Seating Arrangement Review

Our boarding gate wasn't too far from the duty-free area. After arriving two hours early to pick up my duty-free items, I made it to the gate just 10 minutes before boarding officially began.

Given the short flight duration to Jinan, the aircraft was on the smaller side.

Economy class features a 3-3 seating arrangement, with a few rows of Business Class upfront.

The seat pitch felt comparable to domestic budget carriers. I was seated in a middle seat, but for a flight of less than two hours, it wasn't overly uncomfortable. There are no personal entertainment screens, so it's a good idea to download movies or shows onto your phone beforehand.

03. Shandong Airlines In-flight Meal

Shortly after takeoff, our in-flight meal was served. The meal consisted of bread, a meat-flavored snack, a mala-flavored snack, and water.

I was expecting only a small snack for such a short route, so receiving a packaged meal was quite a surprise!

The bread had ham inside and was surprisingly sweet and tasty.

04. Checking Airfare

Shandong Airlines flights are generally affordable, often available in the ~$149-~$224 range, but you can sometimes find tickets for as low as ~$75. There's quite a significant price difference depending on your travel dates.

When comparing flights on Trip.com for the same route, I noticed that prices varied significantly by time.
