The Alhambra, bathed in a warm glow, takes on a completely different atmosphere after dark,

making it a truly enchanting experience.

If you're visiting Granada,

I highly recommend making time for this magical evening spectacle.

To help you plan, I've compiled details on two prime viewpoints

where you can best witness this breathtaking nightscape.

1. Seasonal Sunset Times in Granada

The sunset times in Granada vary significantly throughout the year,

so it's crucial to adjust your itinerary accordingly based on your travel dates.

Spain observes Daylight Saving Time (often called 'Summer Time'),

which means sunset times shift by an hour in late March and late October.

During summer, the long daylight hours allow for ample sightseeing,

but you might consider starting your afternoon activities later to avoid the intense midday heat.

Conversely, in winter, darkness falls as early as 6:00 PM,

so it's best to concentrate your main sightseeing activities in the morning.

2. Mirador de San Nicolás

This is the most famous and highly recommended viewpoint within the Albaicín district.

It's perched at an elevation of approximately 2,523 feet (769 meters) above sea level.

You can enjoy a scenic walk up from Nueva Square, exploring the charming alleyways,

or take the C31 or C32 bus, which gets you there comfortably in about 8 minutes.

be aware that some sections can be dark and secluded.

3. Mirador de San Miguel Alto

This is the highest viewpoint in Granada.

It's situated at an elevation of approximately 2,789 feet (850 meters).

From this vantage point, you can take in the Alhambra Palace with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains behind it,

and to your right, the entire Albaicín district and Granada city center spread out below.

and it offers a much more relaxed atmosphere compared to San Nicolás.

For your descent, you can catch the N9 bus from the same stop you arrived at,

or enjoy a 15-minute walk down.

I've walked down myself and found it not too daunting, but the path can be sparsely populated.

Therefore, for night descents, it's recommended to go with companions, or ideally, head down before it gets completely dark.

4. Which Viewpoint Should You Choose?

If you prefer a lively atmosphere and a closer, iconic view of the Alhambra, Mirador de San Nicolás is your spot.

For a more serene experience and a broader vista encompassing the entire city of Granada, Mirador de San Miguel Alto is highly recommended.

For both viewpoints, arrive before sunset to claim your spot,

and prioritize safety when moving around after dark.
