Alagon Saigon Hotel Review 2026: District 1 Budget Gem
Discover Alagon Saigon Hotel & Spa, a budget-friendly oasis in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1. Enjoy a rooftop pool, breakfast, and quiet rooms near Ben Thanh.

If you are planning to stay near District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, budget is probably your biggest concern. Since major tourist attractions and amazing local eateries are concentrated around Ben Thanh Market, this area is always bustling with travelers. While the accessibility is unmatched, the nightly rates here can get quite steep.
Out of all the accommodation options available, let me introduce you to Alagon Saigon Hotel & Spa, a fantastic budget-friendly choice that does not compromise on quality.

Location

Alagon Saigon Hotel is perfectly situated right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's District 1.
You can easily walk to most major tourist spots, and Ben Thanh Market is just a quick 5-minute walk (about 0.2 miles) away.

While staying here, I was able to easily explore Saigon Square, Bui Vien Walking Street, the famous Saigon Skydeck for city views, and even catch a river cruise without any hassle.

The currency exchange booths in front of Ben Thanh Market are also very close. Mai Van and Ha Tam are the two most famous exchange spots, but keep in mind that local regulations occasionally cause them to close temporarily. It is always a smart move to carry a multi-currency travel card (like Wise or Revolut) as a backup.
Check-in and Guest Rooms

The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and speak excellent English. After a quick ID check, I was assigned my room immediately.

The room size was standard—neither too spacious nor too cramped. If you are traveling solo, this space is more than comfortable.
On weekdays, you can book a room on Agoda starting around ~$45 per night! If you want to include a delicious breakfast, it is only about ~$51.

The beer and soft drinks in the minibar fridge come with a fee, but the bottled water, coffee, and tea are complimentary.
The room is perfectly fine for two guests and comes fully equipped with essential amenities, including an in-room safe, hair dryer, and electric kettle.

It is always recommended to bring your own personal toiletries. I have seen some travelers bring portable shower filters for extra hygiene, but I do not think it is necessary here.

Since shower hose designs vary greatly across hotels, portable filters often do not fit properly or risk damaging the fixtures, so I would suggest skipping them.
Rooftop Pool and Breakfast

Head up to the 11th floor to find the rooftop swimming pool and fitness center.

Although the pool area gets plenty of direct sunlight, it is absolutely perfect for a quick, refreshing dip. Unfortunately, I was not feeling 100% on this trip and ended up resting in my room instead of swimming. I still regret missing out on that gorgeous pool!

The breakfast buffet offers fresh, made-to-order omelets and fried eggs, alongside a great selection of pastries, cereals, fresh fruits, and local hot dishes.

I love eggs, so I always go back for seconds at the live omelet station! There is plenty of seating available, and the staff do an amazing job of keeping the food freshly replenished.

Alagon Saigon Hotel & Spa is truly an incredible budget-friendly oasis in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1.
Even though it is located right in the city center, I was amazed at how quiet it was. The street noise from the motorbikes and cars was barely audible, and the solid soundproofing allowed me to get a wonderful night's sleep.

Finding this level of quality in District 1 for under ~$64 a night is incredibly rare. To fully experience all the attractions in the area, I recommend staying for at least two nights. If you plan to stay longer, you can easily use ride-sharing apps or grab a taxi to explore the outer districts. I would definitely book a room here again on my next visit to Saigon!
