Airport Plaza Hotel Hamburg Review 2026: Convenient Airport Stay
Landing in Hamburg? Find out why the 4-star Airport Plaza Hotel is your perfect choice for a comfortable stay, especially for early morning flights or business trips.

Fresh off a flight into Hamburg, I knew I needed a comfortable spot to unwind right away, so I booked a stay at a hotel near the airport.
The Airport Plaza Hotel Hamburg is super convenient, located just about a 10-minute drive (roughly 2 miles) from the airport. It's a popular choice, especially for those with early morning or late-night flights, as well as airline crew and business travelers looking for easy access to the airport.
You might also hear it referred to as the Nordport Plaza Hotel.

Getting to the Hotel from the Airport

Since it's about a 49-minute walk from the airport (roughly 2.5 miles), you'll definitely need to use transportation to get to the hotel. Trust me, with luggage, you won't want to walk that far!
If you're arriving at the airport with suitcases, I'd highly recommend taking a taxi. It's a quick 7-minute ride and will cost you around ~$16.

If you've rented a car, the hotel offers private on-site parking, so you can easily pull in and park.
I also heard that they operate an airport shuttle service, but you'll need to contact the hotel in advance to arrange it.
Checking In at Airport Plaza Hotel

I checked in before the sun went down, and as expected, I needed to present my passport and credit card at the front desk.
After checking in, it was a breeze getting my luggage up to the room thanks to the convenient elevators.
Room Condition

Stepping into the room, the bathroom was immediately to the right, with the beds and a table further inside. The layout was quite practical.
There was a decent amount of space in front of the beds, which was perfect for spreading out my luggage on the floor without feeling cramped.
And of course, free Wi-Fi was available throughout the hotel!

Since I booked a twin room, it came with two single beds. The bedding wasn't overly plush, but it was incredibly clean and well-maintained, which is what truly matters.

I always prioritize bathroom cleanliness, and this one didn't disappoint. The sink, toilet, and shower were all neatly arranged in a line and impeccably clean.

I especially loved how spacious the shower stall was. Although there was only a partial wall near the toilet, leading to a bit of splashing, the generous space definitely made up for it!
Room View at this Hamburg Airport Hotel
Since this isn't a coastal hotel, you won't be treated to an ocean view.

However, I happened to visit just as the sun was setting, and the view from my room was absolutely stunning. For me, whether it's an international trip or a domestic getaway, a beautiful room view can make or break a stay, and this one certainly made it! I was extremely satisfied.

And here's the evening view! I captured this when I stepped out for a moment after dark. It looked like a spot for fishing, and seeing it at night, you really get a sense of why Hamburg is Germany's largest port city – it was a unique and captivating sight.
Breakfast Review

Waking up bright and early, I quickly got dressed and headed down for breakfast.

The breakfast spread was a buffet featuring a variety of options, including European, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and American breakfast items.

Being in Germany, I naturally opted for some fresh bread and bacon. As I enjoyed my meal, I made a mental note: Hamburg is the city of the hamburger, so I absolutely had to try a local burger for lunch!
Airport Plaza Hotel: Final Thoughts

Being so close to Hamburg Airport, this hotel was the perfect spot to recover from travel fatigue. The room conditions were spotless, and all the necessary amenities were provided, leaving me overall very satisfied with my stay.
If you have an early morning flight or a late arrival, or if you're visiting Hamburg for business, I highly recommend the Airport Plaza Hotel Hamburg as your go-to accommodation.
Oh, and you'll find a Tesa building right across from the hotel!
