Zermatt Airbnb Review 2026: Cozy Alpine Stay

Our Swiss adventure lasted for 6 days and 5 nights,

and we decided to split our time equally,

spending 2 nights each in three incredible destinations:

Zermatt - Interlaken - Grindelwald

We booked all of our accommodations through Airbnb.

Out of all the places we stayed, our very first stop here in Zermatt

was hands down our absolute

FAVORITE! 😭

Once you book on Airbnb,

the host sends over check-in details a few days before arrival.

It usually includes

how to access the property,

house rules,

and local recommendations.

For this specific apartment, checking in felt like

solving an escape room! We had to find the mailbox near the entrance,

enter the secret code, and retrieve the key. Haha!

On the glass door of the building,

there was a notice asking guests to keep quiet after 10:00 PM.

It was written in multiple languages.

The bathroom was incredibly compact—

maybe around 35 square feet?

But the shower booth was amazing, always hot, and so relaxing.

Everything was spotless!

The bathroom floor was perfectly clean.

The host mentioned it was recently renovated,

and the cleanliness was truly top-notch.

There were plenty of fresh towels,

and the bed was super comfortable.

As I said before, out of all our Swiss Airbnbs,

this one was definitely the best!

They even had a giant photo of the Matterhorn

hanging right on the wall! Haha.

There was also a small sofa bed

that could easily sleep another person.

The dining table sat four people comfortably.

It was quite spacious, making it perfect for

spreading out our things and planning our days.

I don't usually use kitchenware when staying at rentals,

so I didn't use them here either, but

everything looked incredibly clean and well-maintained.

There was a TV, but since I couldn't understand

a single word of the local channels, I didn't turn it on.

And wow, there were so many remotes!

When I was booking my Zermatt stay,

I had two major dilemmas:

1. Is visiting Zermatt really worth it?

2. Do I absolutely need a room with a Matterhorn view?

My answers after the trip:

1. Yes, absolutely!

2. Not necessarily.

To be honest, Zermatt wasn't even on my radar initially,

but so many travelers recommended it that I added it to the itinerary.

The next day, we went up to the Zermatt ski resort.

When else would I ever get the chance to snowboard on fresh, natural powder snow?

It was an unforgettable, dream-like experience.

We only got to see the Matterhorn peak on our first day,

but we heard that many travelers leave without ever seeing it due to the clouds.

I'm just so grateful we got to see it once,

and having such a clean, comfortable home base made the trip perfect.

Oh, and one more thing—

this Airbnb is located super close to the main Matterhorn viewpoints!
