If you're traveling in Tokyo and want to spend about a day
exploring somewhere nearby, I recommend
Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise!
Honestly, I thought it would only appeal to kids,
but after visiting myself, I found the aquarium was huge,
and with dolphin shows and even amusement rides,
even an adult like me was thrilled all day!
I almost regretted not coming, thinking it was just a typical aquarium.
Highly recommended for families with kids or as a couple's date spot!
1. Hakkeijima Sea Paradise Prices
While the tickets might look complicated,
it's easy once you decide whether you only want to see the aquariums or also ride the attractions.

2. How to Get to Hakkeijima from Yokohama
The most convenient route was:
Yokohama Station → Shin-Sugita Station → Hakkeijima Station
This is how you get there.
From Yokohama Station,
take the JR Negishi Line / Keihin-Tohoku Line
to Shin-Sugita Station, then transfer to the Yokohama Seaside Line.
After getting off at Hakkeijima Station and crossing the bridge to the island,
it took about 10-15 minutes to reach the entrance.
The total travel time is approximately 50 minutes!
3. Review: Hakkeijima Aquarium Dolphin Show
What truly stood out and lingered in my memory was, of course, the massive tank!
The sight of the schools of fish moving in unison
was truly a spectacle, and from turtles to stingrays,
there were more species than I expected,
so it took quite a while to admire each and every one.
You can also see penguins up close,
and with sea lions and seals around,
there were plenty of photo opportunities.
The absolute highlight was definitely the Animal Life Live show!
It features live performances starring dolphins, beluga whales, and more.
Showtimes vary by season,
so it's a good idea to check the event schedule for your visit date beforehand.
There are also separate programs like penguin performances or dolphin interactions.

The attractions were also more varied than I expected!
With rides like the Viking, Aqua Ride, Sea Boat, and Carousel,
there are plenty of family-friendly options.
Do note that some have height restrictions,
so if you're visiting with kids, it's best to check in advance :)
Although there's round-trip travel time from Tokyo,
since it combines an aquarium, dolphin show, and amusement park all in one,
it's a perfect day trip destination.
If you're looking for a Tokyo-area destination with kids,
I especially recommend it!
And for big kids who love animals, like me,
it's absolutely delightful (๑^᎑^๑)♡
It's much cheaper to book in advance than to buy tickets on-site,
so be sure to apply any coupons and pre-book!
