Just last weekend, we stumbled upon a fantastic, hidden snorkeling spot in Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk, that's absolutely perfect for families with kids!

While places like Seokdong Breakwater and Daetan Breakwater are well-known in Yeongdeok, this gem I found is likely new to most.

Located about a 2.5-hour drive from Daejeon – a journey of roughly 150 miles – this spot was wonderfully uncrowded, allowing us to enjoy a truly private experience.

Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk: A Quiet, Hidden Snorkeling Haven

My boyfriend, who's absolutely passionate about snorkeling, discovered this Yeongdeok gem, and it truly exceeded all expectations!

The ocean was a stunning shade of blue, and best of all, with no crowds, we could enjoy it to our hearts' content.

While it's a bit off the beaten path, there's a convenient restroom nearby, which is always a plus.

Before our water fun, we grabbed some delicious tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) to-go from Hajeo Banjeom, a nearby Chinese restaurant. We only went because it was the only place open early, but it turned out to be a fantastic eatery in Yeongdeok!

We devoured our meal so quickly, I didn't even get a chance to take photos! It was so good, we even went back for dinner after snorkeling. I'll be sharing a more detailed review of Hajeo Banjeom soon!

This quiet fishing village offers such a peaceful atmosphere. We were able to park, set up our tarp, and jump right into the water.

It's the perfect snorkeling spot, with both deep and shallow areas! Even though the sun was blazing, the ocean water was wonderfully refreshing, making it ideal for a swim.

The kids safely played in the shallow areas, while the adults, who love to snorkel, ventured into the deeper parts for an exhilarating time.

It didn't take long after getting into the water to spot tons of conch, and soon after, we even caught abalone and sea squirts!

We eventually returned to our accommodation, tired but happy, though my boyfriend enjoyed it so much he stayed until 4 PM!

He ended up with a severe sunburn from playing without a shirt on – a painful lesson! (Seriously, folks, a rash guard and sunscreen are absolutely essential! Don't forget them!)

Since this spot isn't widely known, we truly enjoyed a private experience without the usual crowds.
