Why I Chose Yaoji Hakata Hotel
Hot Spring Bath + Location + Great Value |
Traveling in Japan usually involves a LOT of walking.
So, I really wanted to find a hotel with a public bath (onsen) to recharge at the end of the day.
That's why I searched for hotels with public baths.
Soaking once a day completely melted all my fatigue away!
These days, finding a hotel in Fukuoka in the ~$64 range per night
has become incredibly difficult.
Especially near Hakata Station!
But then, I stumbled upon Yaoji Hakata Hotel.
It's only a 7 to 10-minute walk from Hakata Station,
features a natural hot spring bath,
and the single rooms are priced around ~$64 a night.
This price, this location, and a hot spring bath?
It's a super popular hotel, so I booked it immediately before it sold out.

I always went late at night after finishing my itinerary,
and noticed there were actually more locals than tourists!
The facility features a hot bath, warm bath, cold plunge, and a sauna.
The cold plunge is quite small (just big enough to dip your legs),
so I spent most of my time relaxing in the hot and warm baths.

I loved that there were partitions for each seated shower stall,
allowing for a private and comfortable wash,
and the sauna was kept so clean
that it was absolutely perfect for a quick session.
It has the same layout as a traditional Korean public bathhouse,
but it felt way more pleasant and refreshed.

Once you step out into the lobby after your hot spring bath,
you'll find a beer and milk vending machine.
There's nothing quite like a cold beer or fresh milk after a steaming hot bath—pure bliss!~
Even if you're traveling as a couple, taking some separate time at the hot spring
gives you a nice little moment to refresh on your own.
Having that brief pocket of personal downtime
made winding down back in the room feel so much more relaxing and peaceful.

Yaoji Hakata Hotel Room Condition
📍 Will a single room be too cramped for two people?
Not at all! In fact, we actually had space to spare.

We were really worried it would feel too tight for the two of us,
but the bed was quite large, so it didn't feel cramped at all.
The room size is 16㎡. When looking up hotels in Japan,
I've found that anything over 15㎡ is usually perfectly livable for two!

The entryway hallway is quite long, and there's plenty of space between the bed and the desk.
We even laid out two suitcases and still had plenty of room to move around.
We booked a single room fully prepared to squeeze in to save some cash,
but we ended up completely satisfied!
🔻 Take a quick tour of the room 🔻

Overall, the room condition is exceptionally well-maintained—
a clean, budget-friendly Japanese hotel at its best.
There's a separate closet space with plenty of hangers,
so you can keep your worn clothes neatly organized.

The bathroom is also in that classic compact and sparkling clean Japanese style.
Towels, hand soap, and cups are already set up in the room,
while you can grab any other amenities you need from the lobby on your way up.

Since we usually visited the public bathhouse at night,
we didn't use the room's bathtub and just took quick showers here.
The water pressure from the showerhead was incredibly strong, which I personally loved!

These are the same shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided in the public bath,
and the quality was surprisingly impressive.
My hair felt incredibly soft and silky afterward, so I was super happy with them :)
