My Review of the Yantai-Penglaishi Second-Class Train

I took the train round-trip from Yantai to Penglaishi, and the second-class fare was approximately ~$7 one way. When I first booked through Trip.com, I was a bit surprised to find there was no physical ticket or e-ticket. However, it's straightforward: when you enter the train station, simply show your passport to the staff, and they'll confirm your reservation and allow you entry.

Afterward, you'll go through a standard baggage check, and then you're inside the main train station area.

Large screens in the station's central hall display the route, time, and platform number. You can also check the platform details on the Trip.com app, so finding your train is quite easy.

Before entering the platform, there's another boarding pass check. Again, just show your passport to the staff.

The platform itself was spacious and very clean.

I was a little worried that second class might feel cramped, but once I boarded, I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and comfortable the interior was.

The seating arrangement was a 2-3 configuration.

And there was ample space both side-to-side and front-to-back. The 30-minute journey was entirely comfortable.

Each seat also had a tray table, perfect for placing belongings or enjoying a snack. Honestly, it felt very similar to Korea's KTX trains!
Compared to a 1-hour taxi ride, the 30-minute train journey was far more convenient.

Taking a train in China also offers a unique travel experience and is a great way to save time.
Just remember that from Penglaishi Station, you'll still need to take a taxi for about 15 minutes to reach the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea and Sanxian Mountain. Keep this in mind for your planning!
If you're looking to save time,
find long taxi rides burdensome,
or are traveling with a larger group and worried about finding multiple taxis,
I highly recommend traveling by train!
