You'll find Three Squirrels on the 1st floor of Yantai Joy City. Joy City is quite expansive, but the store is conveniently located near the Samsung Electronics store on the first floor, making it easy to spot if you head towards Samsung! I'd only ever seen Three Squirrels' macadamia nuts online or in supermarkets before, so I was surprised to learn they had a dedicated brick-and-mortar store. I made a special trip to Joy City just to visit it.

The Three Squirrels store was surprisingly large, and the product selection was incredibly diverse.

It seemed like they get a lot of Korean visitors, as a staff member immediately directed me to the macadamia nut section, and the types of nuts were also labeled in Korean, making it easy to choose even without knowing Chinese.

They had an impressive variety of nuts, from their most famous macadamia nuts to hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts, and even sunflower seeds.

I was intrigued to find that the sunflower seeds came in various flavors, like caramel, not just the plain variety.

Beyond nuts, they also offered a wide array of dried fruit products, such as dried apples, dried mangoes, and dried tangerines.

I even spotted durian snacks, which was a first for me from the Three Squirrels brand! I would have loved to buy some if they had smaller, individual portions, but unfortunately, only large packages were available.

They also carried some common snack brands found in regular supermarkets, but I opted to buy those separately at a local market since they were cheaper there.

I initially went out of curiosity for their macadamia nuts, and now I completely understand why everyone raves about them.

I expected them to be salty like many other nuts, but they were entirely different. They had a subtle, almost vanilla-like aroma, and unlike some nuts that can feel greasy after a few bites, these were incredibly savory and kept me reaching for more.

I've had experiences in China where nuts had unexpected spice or strong flavorings that made them difficult to eat. However, these macadamia nuts were perfectly seasoned with a delightful savory flavor that never got old. It's clear why many Korean travelers stock up on these when visiting China.
