Bukgae Seonsaeng's Unique Interior

Stepping inside Bukgae Seonsaeng feels like you've walked onto the set of a classic Chinese historical drama. It's truly a unique and immersive experience!

The vintage, rough-textured walls, combined with sturdy, warm wooden tables, create an authentic, retro tavern ambiance. It’s got character for days.

Even the tissue packs are quirky, suspended from ropes above each table. It’s these small details that add to the charm.

The seating is generous, and the tables are spaced comfortably apart, allowing for relaxed conversation and an enjoyable meal with your companions.

Each place setting comes with individually wrapped cutlery, ensuring a clean and hygienic dining experience.

Ordering here is modern and convenient: simply scan the QR code located on your table.

However, here's a crucial tip for first-time visitors to China:

Your phone's standard camera app won't open the ordering link. You MUST scan the QR code using either the **Alipay or WeChat app** to access the menu and place your order. Keep this in mind to avoid any ordering hiccups!

When two of us visited, we ordered quite a feast:

All this deliciousness came to a total of just 93 Chinese Yuan! Talk about incredible value!

Unlike some Korean barbecue spots where you grill your own skewers, here in China, the skewers are expertly cooked in an open kitchen and brought directly to your table. This means you can focus entirely on your conversation and enjoy the atmosphere without worrying about the grilling.

The only slight downside is that the meat can cool down a bit over time, but it's a small trade-off for the convenience.

We were delighted that the lamb skewers had virtually none of that strong gamey smell, making them incredibly palatable. Plus, there's a self-service sauce bar with cumin (쯔란) and other spices, so you can customize your skewers to your liking.

The spicy and savory grilled chives, much like kimchi in Korea, were a fantastic accompaniment, cutting through the richness of the meat. The sweet grilled corn skewers were also a delightful palate cleanser between bites.

While the sweet-marinated chicken galbi was tasty, we found it a bit inconvenient to eat due to the bones. Personally, we'd recommend sticking with the simpler, boneless meat skewers for an easier dining experience.

In many places, especially in Korea, a single serving of lamb skewers can easily run you several tens of dollars. Visiting China, however, offers the fantastic opportunity to enjoy a hearty meal of various skewers at a fraction of the cost.

Bukgae Seonsaeng not only offers a wide array of skewers but also main dishes, all within a spacious and impeccably clean setting inside a shopping mall. It's the perfect spot!
