When planning a Tokyo trip,
choosing a hotel location
can be surprisingly tough.
Deciding where to stay
is a big part of the process!
While popular tourist spots like
Shinjuku or Shibuya are fantastic,
this time, I was looking for a place
close to Tokyo Station but not
overly chaotic.
That's how I ended up booking
Yaeno Midori Tokyo.
My biggest reason for choosing
this hotel was its proximity to Tokyo Station.
Plus, it's super convenient for Disneyland –
you can get there in about 15-20 minutes
directly by subway from Tokyo Station!
The Japanese-style garden inside the hotel
and the delicious breakfast also sealed the deal for me.
What really caught my eye in the photos
was the 14th-floor rooftop garden.
It looked even prettier than I imagined,
making me instantly want to stay here!
After actually staying there,
I found the rooms surprisingly spacious
and the breakfast truly satisfying.
It's definitely a place I'd love to recommend
to anyone looking for a hotel near Tokyo Station,
and it's fantastic for families traveling with children too!
When I visited, it was ~$121,
for a Moderate Double Room.

How close is it to Tokyo Station?
Hotel Yaeno Midori Tokyo is located
in Hatchobori, Chuo Ward, Tokyo,
about a 12-minute walk from Tokyo Station's Yaesu Central Exit.

From Hatchobori Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line,
it's about a 3-minute walk.
I walked from Tokyo Station to the hotel myself,
and the route wasn't complicated at all.
Just follow Yaesu-dori straight,
and it was much easier than I expected!
If you want to stay near Tokyo Station
but prefer a less hectic area,
you might find this location
quite ideal.
It's super convenient not just for exploring around Tokyo Station,
but also for easily heading towards Ginza or Nihonbashi.

When you're traveling, having convenience stores
near your hotel is pretty important, right?
Right in front of the hotel,
just a 2-minute walk away, you'll find two convenience stores, plus
With a drugstore conveniently located nearby,
it was super easy to pick up drinks, snacks, gifts,
or any essentials you might need during your trip.
Even when I returned to the hotel late,
it was never a hassle to grab a quick bite
or purchase anything I needed.

You'll head up from the 1st floor,
and check in at the 14th-floor lobby.
Instead of going straight to your room floor upon arrival,
you'll complete your check-in at the 14th-floor lobby.
At first, I wondered,
"Why check in on the 14th floor?"
but once I went up,
it all made sense!
The 14th floor,
with its expansive, open views, felt much grander than a typical hotel front desk,
making for a fantastic first impression.
Check-in is at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
Front Desk
They also kindly stored my luggage for me.

When heading to your room,
you'll always need to alight at the 14th floor
and take another elevator.
However, when going from your room to the 1st floor,
you can go directly.

The biggest reason I chose this hotel?
The rooftop Japanese garden!
Honestly, I was even more excited about the 14th-floor
rooftop garden than the actual rooms.
It was quite surprising to find a Japanese-style garden
right in the heart of Tokyo, at a hotel no less!

When I actually went up,
I discovered it's a small garden,
but the ambiance was incredibly charming and beautiful.
Even though it's a city hotel,
the blend of trees, water, and traditional Japanese decor
created a wonderful spot to relax and unwind for a bit.
When you're exploring Tokyo,
you often spend all day navigating crowded
tourist spots.
So, being able to return to the hotel
and unwind in such a healing space, even for a short while,
was better than I expected.
It's no exaggeration to say
I chose this hotel specifically for this garden!

Even though it was just before the Christmas season,
there was already a beautiful Christmas tree!
We took some time to admire it and drop off our luggage,
Room Types and Sizes

With a triple bed perfect for three,
it's wonderfully spacious and ideal for families, even with a child.

The bathroom was another absolute highlight for me!
It brilliantly featured both a shower space and a bathtub,
with the vanity cleverly separated outside —
a truly practical and thoughtful design.
What truly impressed me was how deep and wide the bathtub was, far exceeding my expectations.
Sometimes, bathtubs in Japanese hotels can be quite compact, making it challenging to stretch out your legs,
but the one in my room allowed for a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing soak!
The toilet was also thoughtfully separated from the main bathroom area,
which is incredibly convenient and makes sharing a breeze when traveling with companions.

The room itself was delightfully spacious, which was a pleasant surprise!
If you've journeyed through Japan and stayed in hotels before, you know that room size
can often be a key concern for global explorers.
However, this particular room offered far more room than I had anticipated, and I was absolutely thrilled with it!
The space around the bed felt wonderfully open and inviting, and there was ample room to effortlessly organize all my luggage.
It truly felt like the perfect, comfortable base for a multi-day adventure.

Having both hangers and a full-length mirror was such a thoughtful touch,
making it incredibly convenient to check my outfit and feel confident before stepping out to explore!

There were cups for tea,
and a TV where we could check
room information.

Overall,
rather than a flashy vibe,
it felt more like the clean and calm
atmosphere of a Japanese hotel.
And now, for the much-anticipated breakfast!!
Breakfast was something I was really looking forward to here.
Breakfast Hours: 07:00 - 10:30

When you enter the restaurant on the first floor,

the ambiance is wonderful.

You can choose between Western and Japanese style meals.

There was also pickled plum (maesil-jangajji) and
rice.

Milk and other beverages
are available for unlimited servings.

There was also cereal.

The staff asked what I wanted and brought it over.
I opted for the Japanese-style meal.

I've been to Japan so many times,
but this was my first time trying
sea bream *ochazuke*!

The sauce was a savory and nutty sesame miso,
and the sea bream wasn't fishy in the slightest!

There were also instructions on how to eat it.

The rolled omelet (*tamagoyaki*),
fish cake, and grilled fish were also delicious,
and I even polished off the dessert!

It was clean and fresh,
the portion size was just right,
and I wished I could eat it again.
I had breakfast included,
but if you pay for breakfast separately, it's 2,400 yen.
🤔 Things to know before booking
It's not a hotel
right in front of Tokyo Station,
so if you dislike walking from the station to the hotel,
it might feel a bit far.
However,
it's about a 12-minute walk from Tokyo Station,
and if you use the subway,
it's about 3 minutes from Hatchobori Station,
so the commute itself
isn't particularly inconvenient.
Although there isn't a large public bath,
the room size,
cleanliness,
and the garden breakfast were all things I really loved about this place.
