Planning a trip to Barcelona? Check out our honest review of Vinitus, the city's legendary tapas bar, featuring wait-time hacks and must-order dishes.

I've finally sat down to put together this list of
my absolute favorite, life-changing eats in Barcelona!
Barcelona, Spain
Menu Recommendations & Tips to Beat the Wait
From my very first day, I was ordering food like crazy,
and it was so incredibly good that I just had to make plans
to come back with friends. Yes, I'm talking about Vinitus!
I’ve put together a breakdown of the best things on the menu,
so let's dive right in and check them out!
📍 Vinitus
C/ del Consell de Cent, 333, L'Eixample, 08007 Barcelona, Spain
Vinitus Barcelona

Quick heads-up: if you're using a prepaid travel card,
I highly recommend topping up your card while you're waiting in line.
If you end up getting seated in the basement,
the reception can be spotty, making it a struggle to load funds!
The Wait

First things first, if you want to avoid waiting in line,
I definitely recommend getting there right at opening.
Dining hours in Spain run quite a bit later than in many other places—
lunch is typically between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM,
and dinner spans from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
So, if you visit just before or after local peak times,
you'll save yourself a lot of waiting. Basically, aiming for
standard lunch or dinner hours elsewhere works like a charm!

To give you an idea, when I went at the off-peak hour of 5:30 PM,
I got in within just 5 minutes!
But when I visited during the peak lunch rush at 2:30 PM,
I had to wait a whopping hour before getting a table.
Do yourself a favor and avoid the peak hours!
Vinitus Menu

Once we were escorted to our table, we looked over the menu
and started by ordering some drinks.
CAFE CON LECHE (Café Latte) €2.10
AGUA (Water) €2.20
FANTA LIMON (Lemon Fanta) €2.95
Since it's customary to order at least one drink per person,
we chose ours quite carefully!

Since I heard that the dishes are relatively cheap but served
in smaller tapas portions, I went ahead and ordered everything that caught my eye.
REVOLT.PATATAS JABUGO (Ibérico Ham & Potatoes) €8.35
CHIPS DE BERENJENA (Eggplant Crisps) €5.95
ARROZ DE BOGAVANTE (Lobster Rice) €9.40
BACALAO ALL I OLI MEL (Honey Cod) €13.45
TAPITA DE PULPO (Polpo / Octopus) €9.10
BROCH.LANGOSTIN (Shrimp & Squid Skewer) €5.20
M SOLOMILLO TERN (Beef Tenderloin Tapas) €5.20
And that is how we ended up with a beautifully diverse spread of dishes!

Honestly, I wasn't confident in deciphering the menu item by item on the spot,
so before heading to the restaurant,
I took screenshots of the food photos and their names on my phone.
This made ordering incredibly smooth and easy,
so I've written down the names of the dishes under each photo here to help you do the same!

Since it's a highly popular spot,
the servers are super quick and responsive.
The fast-paced service was absolutely satisfying—
definitely keeps up with a busy traveler's tempo!
My Top Vinitus Menu Recommendations!

FANTA LIMON (Lemon Fanta)
Naturally, the drinks were the first to arrive.
If you ever visit Spain, trying the Fanta here is an absolute must.
Unlike back home, they actually use real fruit juice in it!
It tasted so much richer and more authentic,
that I ended up grabbing one multiple times throughout my trip.
(Pro tip: It's even better when it's ice-cold!)

AGUA (Water)
Water is another absolute essential here.
Since the food here tends to be more heavily seasoned,
you'll naturally find yourself reaching for a glass of water.
Since we're not big on alcohol,
we stuck to water, soft drinks, and coffee instead!

CAFE CON LECHE (Café Latte)
My sister really wanted an iced version, but no luck here!
So we ordered a warm Cafe con Leche.
It tasted a bit mild at first, but it was strangely addictive.
Before I knew it, the cup was completely empty.

CHIPS DE BERENJENA (Fried Eggplant)
I'm normally someone who hates eggplant,
but these eggplant chips... why are they so good?!
Thinly sliced eggplant is fried to perfection and drizzled with a mysterious, sweet sauce.
I saw so many people ordering this,
so curiosity got the best of me and I had to try it.

Since they are thin, crispy chips,
they aren't exactly filling.
So if you're starving and looking for a hearty meal, this might not be it!
But if you like eggplant or just want to try something unique,
I highly, highly recommend it!

REVOLT.PATATAS JABUGO (Jamón)
I had my very first taste of Spanish Jamón right here at Vinitus.
And oh my, it was absolute heaven.
Pairing the salty, savory jamón with potatoes
was an absolute match made in heaven. So incredibly delicious!

While buying jamón from the supermarket is great,
if you want to try it beautifully prepared as a dish, this is a must-order!
Also, if you're a jamón first-timer,
Vinitus is a fantastic place to start your journey.

ARROZ DE BOGAVANTE (Lobster Rice)
When you need that comforting carb fix, you just have to order some rice!!!!!
With that in mind, I ordered the lobster rice.
Since reviews on this dish seemed quite mixed,
I ordered it with a bit of hesitation.
But it turned out to be completely my style, and I loved every bite.

The flavor profile is very similar to crab or lobster tomalley rice!
It might look a bit like black bean rice at first glance, but since it's lobster rice,
think of that rich, savory tomalley fried rice flavor.

TAPITA DE PULPO (Polpo - Octopus Dish)
Would a trip to Spain even be complete
without trying some Polpo (octopus)?
After falling in love with octopus in Portugal,
I couldn't wait to have it again here in Barcelona, Spain.

Instead of being served as one long tentacle,
it comes cut into bite-sized pieces, making it super easy to eat.
It's dusted with what tasted like paprika powder,
which paired beautifully with the octopus—flavorful but not overpowering at all.

Vinitus's polpo was definitely good, but if I had to compare,
the one I had in Portugal still takes the crown.

M SOLOMILLO TERN (Steak Tapas)
For the steak tapas, you can choose between two toppings:
one with green peppers and one with seafood.
Seafood can be a hit or miss,
and since the seafood tapas I had in Seville
was a bit disappointing, I decided to go with the pepper topping.

My choice was a solid 100/100...!
The green pepper did an incredible job cutting through the richness
and bringing out the deep, savory flavor of the meat.
When you eat it all together with the crispy baguette on the bottom,
the mix of textures is pure bliss.

BACALAO ALL I OLI MEL (Honey Cod)
To be honest, I didn't have super high expectations
for Vinitus' #1 signature dish, the Honey Cod.
But oh my goodness, the moment I took a bite, I got goosebumps.
It literally melts in your mouth,
releasing a perfect balance of savory richness and honeyed sweetness.
This easily made it into the TOP 10 dishes of my entire life.

It's not greasy or fishy at all—just pure, unadulterated deliciousness.
Do yourself a favor and eat honey cod once a day, every day!

BROCH.LANGOSTIN (Shrimp & Calamari Skewer)
Shrimp, calamari, cherry tomatoes, and crispy baguette
all come together in this fabulous skewer dish!

As you slide the ingredients off the skewer and eat them,
make sure to pair them with the sweet-sauce-glazed, crunchy baguette
to make the flavors pop even more.
It's a crowd-pleaser that anyone will love, so highly recommended!

Now I completely understand why this place is so incredibly popular,
not just with Korean tourists, but with travelers from all over the world.
It immediately won me over.
Finding My Ultimate "Life Restaurant" in Spain
Every single dish we ordered was a home run,
the prices were super reasonable,
and the service was fast and efficient.
If you're heading to Barcelona,
you absolutely must put Vinitus at the top of your list!
It is recommended to avoid Spain's late meal times, which are between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM. If you visit at an off-peak time like 5:30 PM, you can get in within 5 minutes, but during the 2:30 PM peak time, you will have to wait for about an hour.
Mobile data reception is poor in the basement seats, making it difficult to top up your balance through the app. Therefore, if you are using a Travel Wallet card, it is recommended to top up your money in advance while waiting.
It is recommended to take screenshots of the photos and names of the menu items you want to order on your phone before visiting the restaurant. By showing the photos to your server, you can order easily and quickly even if you don't know Spanish.
The price of the Honey Cod is 13.45 euros. It is characterized by a melt-in-your-mouth texture without any fishy taste, harmoniously blending savory flavors with the sweetness of the honey.
For the steak tapas, you can choose between a pepper topping and a seafood topping. It is recommended to choose the pepper topping because the pepper cuts through the greasiness of the meat and enhances the flavor.
