1. Prohibited Items: What to Leave at Home
Make sure these items are completely removed from your luggage before you head out.
🚫 E-Cigarettes & Vapes (All Types)
Starting in 2026, Vietnam has completely banned the production, sale, possession, and personal use of all e-cigarettes and vapes.
They are being confiscated at airport security, and travelers have been fined for using them in local cafes and hotels. It's best to leave them behind entirely.
🚫 Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and Meats
Fresh produce like apples, pears, and citrus fruits, along with raw meats, are strictly regulated and generally not allowed through customs.

Commercially packaged, vacuum-sealed items with clear ingredient labels are usually fine in small quantities. However, homemade food in loose containers will likely be discarded due to leakage and quarantine risks.

2. Duty-Free Allowances: Alcohol & Tobacco
Planning to bring duty-free alcohol or tobacco? Here are the exact limits:
✅ Alcohol: Spirits (over 22% ABV) up to 1.5L / Wine & Liqueur (under 22% ABV) up to 2.0L / Beer up to 3.0L
✅ Tobacco: 200 cigarettes / 100 cigars / 500g of loose tobacco
✅ Other Personal Goods: Up to 10 million VND (approx. $320) in value

A. Absolutely not. As of 2026, possession is completely illegal. They will be confiscated, and you could face hefty fines. Leave them at home!
Q. Can I bring instant ramen with meat ingredients?
A. Technically, instant noodles containing real meat flakes or meat broth powder are restricted due to swine fever concerns. While some get through, they can be confiscated. Honestly, major tourist hubs like Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nha Trang have plenty of international and local convenience stores where you can easily buy your favorite snacks.
Q. How much passport validity do I need?
A. You must have at least 6 months of validity left from your date of entry. Always double-check this before booking your flights!
