Hey there, fellow travelers!
I'm excited to share my 2026 review of a fantastic Tokyo apartment hotel, marking my second visit after my initial stay in 2024.
1. Why I Recommend This Tokyo Apartment Hotel
I've now stayed at Unito Residence twice: first at their Higashi-Shinjuku branch in 2024, and more recently at the Otsuka location. My top reason for recommending it? It's a brand-new property offering incredible value.
Many hotels near major stations like Shinjuku or Ikebukuro are often outdated, cramped, and overpriced. Unito Residence properties, however, are typically located just a short distance from the main hubs, which translates to significantly more affordable rates.
(For two people, I paid around ~$120 per night!)
What truly sets Unito Residence apart is its focus on long-term stays in newly built apartments and office buildings. This means you get a much cleaner and more spacious experience compared to traditional hotels, which is a huge plus!

2. Finding Unito Residence Otsuka
You can reach Unito Residence Otsuka via Otsuka Station on the Yamanote Line or Shin-Otsuka Station on the Marunouchi Line. (Just a heads up, the correct pronunciation is actually "Oh-oht-soo-kah"!)

While Otsuka might be a less familiar area, it's incredibly well-connected:
Just one stop from Ikebukuro Station on the Yamanote Line,
Five stops from Shinjuku Station,
And six stops from Ueno.
This means most major Tokyo attractions are within about a 30-minute commute, making it a super convenient base for exploring!

Otsuka Station is slightly closer than Shin-Otsuka Station. The streets might look a bit intricate, but Google Maps will easily guide you to the building shown in the photos above. Even at night, the area is well-lit with plenty of streetlights, and being a residential neighborhood, it's wonderfully quiet.
3. Room Condition: A Tokyo Hotel Recommendation

I was so eager to see the room that I snapped photos before even turning on the lights! You can immediately tell how much more spacious it is compared to most Japanese hotels, can't you?
There's ample space for luggage in addition to the bed. In fact, with extra bedding, this accommodation can comfortably host up to 4 people.

The layout combines the living room and kitchen, featuring a table for four, cooking facilities, and a refrigerator with a freezer. There's also a microwave and dishes, making it convenient to prepare meals if you buy groceries, or even cook regularly for a month-long or extended stay.

Turning left from the entrance leads to the bedroom area, which has a double bed and a closet. Since this Tokyo hotel accommodates up to 4 people, the closet contained extra bedding, so there wasn't much space to hang clothes comfortably.

Next to the entrance, you'll find convenient trash and recycling bins. To the right of the entrance is the restroom. In Japan, it's common to have a dry-style bathroom where the toilet and bathing area are separated.

So, what about the separate bathing area? It was compact but included a bathtub, along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Hot water was readily available almost instantly after turning on the boiler, which was a nice touch!

Before entering the bathing area, you'll find a sink and a washing machine on either side. The sink area had hand soap and a hairdryer, but no other amenities like toothbrushes. The washing machine is available for use, but you'll need to bring your own detergent. We remembered to bring our own detergent pods!

One thing to note is that the room gets a lot of natural light, so blackout curtains are installed. The morning sun can be quite strong, even by 7 AM, so make sure to close those curtains before you sleep!
Oh, and the air conditioner/heater units are located in the bedroom and by the living room table. Since there's no floor heating, you'll want to use these if it gets chilly in winter.
4. How to Book This New Tokyo Apartment Hotel
Following my stay at the Higashi-Shinjuku branch, I was once again completely satisfied with Unito Residence, a top Tokyo apartment hotel choice!
While there was a minor issue with towels not being in the room upon check-in, I was able to communicate through the Agoda app, and they quickly found a solution, delivering towels on the same day. I was impressed with their responsiveness!
You can't book this property just anywhere. It's available on these three platforms:
Agoda
