I visit Tsushima every year during this season,

you can truly feel Japan's unique atmosphere,

01. Why Tsushima is a Must-Visit in Summer
Many people think of Tsushima as a place with not many tourist attractions
and believe it's all about shopping.
However, from June to August,
it's a destination eagerly awaited by those who love the sea.
Tsushima's sea is incredibly clean,
just like the waters of Southeast Asia,
and the underwater environment is fantastic.
When I first visited,
"It's so close to Busan, yet
the sea is this clear?!"
I was genuinely surprised.
Especially Miuda Beach in Hitakatsu, which is easily accessible even for a day trip,
is renowned as one of Japan's most stunning beaches.
With its emerald waters and
white sandy beaches,
you'll feel as if you've arrived at a Southeast Asian paradise.

And guess what? Tsushima boasts over ten such magnificent beaches!
If you find long flights to Southeast Asia daunting,
and are looking for a nearby international getaway,
Tsushima is truly an excellent choice.
You just need to take a ferry to arrive in Japan,
and you can enjoy pristine seas and nature all at once.

03. Tsushima Ferry: Tsushima Link Ferry June-August Operating Schedule
The Tsushima Link ferry operates routes from Busan to
Hitakatsu and Izuhara.
The Hitakatsu route takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes,
making it the most popular choice for day trippers,
and it's perfect for enjoying the sea on a short trip.

On the other hand, Izuhara
is where the main downtown area of Tsushima is located,
making it very popular with travelers
doing 1-night/2-day or 2-night/3-day trips.

July and August, being peak summer vacation season,
tend to get booked up quickly,
so if your travel plans are set,
it's best to book in advance.
Once the discount period ends,
you'll have to book at the regular price.
During peak season, regardless of whether it's a weekday or weekend,
bookings fill up fast,
so if your vacation schedule is out, you should book your Tsushima ferry ticket first.

04. Why Tsushima Ferry Users Have Such High Satisfaction
For those who are taking a ferry for the first time,
sea sickness can be a concern,
but the Tsushima Link ferry is a relatively large vessel,
so you'll experience less motion sickness compared to other boats.

It boasts high ratings from actual users
and a high re-utilization rate too!

In my own experience, I always check the Tsushima Link ferry first,
and only look for other boats if there are no seats available.

The seats are quite spacious,
and the travel time from Busan to Tsushima is the shortest,
which is a big advantage, making the journey less strenuous.

05. Handy Tips Before Booking Your Tsushima Ferry Ticket
1. Don't forget your passport!
It might seem obvious,
but surprisingly, quite a few people forget it on the day of departure.
2. Book now for peak season.
During the summer peak season, bookings
fill up quickly.
They close fast regardless of the day of the week,
so hurry and book!
3. Get ready for some water fun!
From June, the weather becomes perfect for enjoying the sea,
and July and August are the official swimming season.
Tsushima's charm lies in its surprisingly beautiful beaches,
so it's a great idea to pack your swimwear and aqua shoes.

06. Wrapping Up
While Tsushima is wonderful in spring and autumn,
I personally hope you get to experience Tsushima in the summer at least once.
It's a close international destination from Busan that offers Japanese charm,
and you can enjoy crystal-clear waters and swimming.

If you're thinking about international travel this coming July or August,
how about a trip to Tsushima,
a perfect spot for water activities?
During the summer peak season, ferry seats to Tsushima can sell out quickly, so if your schedule is set,
I recommend checking availability and booking in advance.
Tsushima Link operates routes from Busan to Hitakatsu and Izuhara. The Hitakatsu route takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, making it ideal for day-trippers or those looking to enjoy the sea on a short trip. The Izuhara route is popular among travelers planning a 2-day/1-night or 3-day/2-night stay, as it leads to Tsushima's central downtown area.
Customers utilizing the Tsushima Link summer season discount event can enjoy various benefits, including free luggage storage, electric bicycle discounts, travel insurance, eSIM discount benefits, and duty-free shop coupons. The electric bicycle discount, in particular, is said to be very useful for summer coastal road cycling.
The best time to enjoy water activities in Tsushima is from June to August. Specifically, in July and August, you can fully enjoy swimming at beaches and playing in valley streams. Miuda Beach in Hitakatsu, which is easily accessible for day trips, is famous for its emerald-green waters and white sandy beach.
Tsushima Link ferry bookings to Tsushima sell out very quickly during the peak summer season in July and August.
