If you were to pick the most famous beach in Tsushima, it would undoubtedly be Miuda Beach.
It's been chosen as one of 'Japan's Top 100 Coasts' and is also the beach most frequently visited by first-time travelers.
You can reach it by car from Hitakatsu Port in about 5 minutes, making its accessibility excellent.
At first glance, it might not seem as large as you'd expect, but the closer you get, the more beautiful its transparent waters and fine white sand appear.
The seawater is so clear that on sunny days, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of it sparkling with an emerald glow.
During the summer season, shower facilities and other conveniences are also available, making it particularly popular among families.

Not far from Miuda Beach, Nishidomari Beach is a relatively lesser-known hidden gem.
With fewer tourists, it's perfect for leisurely enjoying the sea in a tranquil atmosphere.
While it's not huge,
its fine sandy beach and crystal-clear waters
make it perfect for those seeking a tranquil retreat.
What's more, it's connected by a walking path to
the Kamiso Hotel, nestled on a hill above,
making it ideal to enjoy alongside your stay.
If you truly want to soak in Tsushima's relaxed vibe,
you absolutely have to visit.

04. Mogihama Beach
My Top Recommendation: Tsushima's Hidden Gem near Hitakatsu
Of all the Tsushima beaches I've personally visited,
if I had to pick the most impressive one,
it would be Mogihama Beach.
It's about a 15-minute drive from Hitakatsu Port,
and the moment you arrive, unlike Miuda Beach,
the vast sandy expanse and vibrant blue ocean
will completely capture your heart.
Most of Tsushima's seas
boast an emerald hue,
but here, the deep color palette of emerald and cobalt blue
was truly captivating.
As soon as I stepped out of the car,
I couldn't help but exclaim "Wow!"
Another great advantage is
that it's a completely natural beach.
It doesn't feel artificially created at all;
you get to experience nature's masterpiece exactly as it is,
which makes it feel even more special.
Since it's not crowded, it's easy to spread out a mat
and relax leisurely in the shade,
and there's even a shaded rest area provided
so you can escape the summer heat for a bit.
The sea remains shallow for quite a distance from the shore,
before dropping off abruptly at a certain point.
If you're with young children, it's especially important to be careful
not to let them venture into the deeper sections.
When I visited,
there were some gentle waves,
but surprisingly, not many fish were present.
So, rather than being a spectacular snorkeling spot,
it's more suited for enjoying the clean waters, playing in the sand with kids,
and generally having a relaxed swim.

Both beaches boast incredibly clear water

making them perfect spots for families with kids to splash around.
A scenic walking trail connects the two beaches,
offering the delightful experience of strolling slowly
and admiring their distinct views.
Especially if you explore them alongside Tsushima Green Park,
you can easily make a half-day itinerary
that's thoroughly satisfying.
