📍 29 Haesongjeong2-gil, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam, South Korea (2nd Floor of Daepung Building)
Dongpirang Abalone Village is located on the second floor of the Daepung Building. Parking can be a bit tight, so if the lot is full, there are several public parking lots nearby that you can utilize.
2. Weekend Dining? The Tabling App is Your Best Friend!

When I visited for lunch on a Saturday, the restaurant was absolutely buzzing! Dongpirang Abalone Village is quite popular, especially on weekends, so be prepared for a wait. Luckily, they use the Tabling app, which allows you to remotely add your name to the waiting list.
I highly recommend signing up about an hour before you plan to arrive. This smart move meant I was able to walk right in without a long wait!

The app even lets you defer your turn if you're not quite ready, offering great flexibility. Seriously, for weekend lunch, pre-registering on Tabling is a game-changer!
3. Inside Dongpirang Abalone Village: Ambiance

During my visit, the dining area was filled with many families enjoying their meals. While the space isn't overly large, it felt quite lively and a bit bustling due to the sheer number of happy diners.
4. Menu and Value

The menu at Dongpirang Abalone Village is a seafood lover's dream, featuring a delightful array of abalone dishes like Abalone Stone Pot Rice, Abalone Cold Sashimi, and Sea Urchin Bibimbap. As someone who specifically came to Tongyeong for abalone, I was thrilled with the diverse choices!
If you're visiting with a group, I highly recommend ordering different dishes to share and experience more of what they offer. Considering the quality and freshness of abalone, the prices felt quite reasonable. The set menus, in particular, offered fantastic value, coming with a generous seafood pancake and grilled fish.
5. What We Ordered

First up, the complimentary banchan (side dishes) were a feast for the eyes and palate, with a total of seven varieties. We enjoyed a refreshing spicy salad, savory seasoned squid, crisp seaweed, sweet and salty anchovy stir-fry, crunchy cucumber chili, classic kimchi, and blanched bean sprouts – a truly satisfying spread.

The seafood pancake and grilled fish, included in our set menu, were perfectly seasoned. The pancake was deliciously savory and light, while the grilled fish was flaky and not overly salty, making it an ideal accompaniment to the abalone dishes.
Abalone Stone Pot Rice Set

The Abalone Stone Pot Rice was generously topped with tender abalone slices. The abalone itself was incredibly soft, not at all chewy, and the rice had a wonderful, sticky texture that made each bite utterly delightful.

They also provided seaweed flakes and a special soy sauce, allowing us to adjust the seasoning to our liking, which was a nice touch.

To finish, we poured hot water into the stone pot to create a comforting *nurungji* (scorched rice soup), making for a truly hearty and satisfying meal.
Abalone Porridge Set

The Abalone Porridge was rich and intensely flavorful, seemingly made with plenty of abalone guts, giving it a deep, savory taste. Even though I'm not usually a huge fan of porridge, its smooth texture and robust flavor won me over.

The consistency was perfectly easy to eat, making it a great option for everyone, from children to seniors.
Abalone Butter Grill

Hands down, the Abalone Butter Grill was my absolute favorite dish at Dongpirang Abalone Village!

The staff shared a helpful tip: slice the abalone along its grain for the most tender and delicious bite. The rich, buttery aroma combined with the abalone was heavenly, and it was easily one of the softest abalones I've ever tasted!
