Tokyo Skytree Booking Guide,
Observation Deck Ticket Prices, Night View vs. Daytime Comparison
Ⓒ Text & Photos by Viewmallang
On my trip to Tokyo, I visited a total of three observation decks.
Among them, the one I was most excited about was none other than Skytree!
It offers a different vibe from Tokyo Tower, providing a high-up perspective
from which you can look down on the entire city of Tokyo. I added it to my itinerary,
and as it's the tallest observation deck, it definitely had a unique feel.
Especially since Skytree is such a popular tourist spot,
I highly recommend booking your tickets in advance before visiting!
I'm going to share everything from how to book your Tokyo Skytree tickets, the best prices,
ticket types, and even recommended visiting times.

1. Must-Visit Spots in Tokyo

Tokyo Skytree is a magnificent 634m tall tower,
standing as one of Tokyo's most iconic landmarks.
Its observation decks are divided into two levels based on height:
Tembo Deck: 350m
Tembo Galleria: 450m
This is how they are structured.

From the 350m Tembo Deck, you can gaze through expansive windows
and enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of Tokyo.
If you ascend to 450m,
you can revel in even higher views!
📍 Location
📍 Tokyo Skytree
1-chōme-1-2 Oshiage, Sumida City, Tokyo 131-0045 Japan
It's directly connected to Oshiage Station on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line and Asakusa Line,
making it super convenient to reach by public transport!
⏰ Opening Hours Weekdays 10:00 ~ 22:00 Weekends 09:00 ~ 22:00
2. Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck Reservations

Skytree is incredibly popular with tourists,
so I personally recommend booking online rather than buying tickets on site.

While you can buy tickets on-site,
during peak hours,
the ticket queue can get quite long!
The sunset time slot, in particular, is extremely popular as you can witness both the daytime scenery
and the sparkling night view.
So, if you want to visit at your preferred time, it's best to reserve in advance.

✅ Skytree Ticket Types
There are tickets that only go up to 350m,
and tickets that include access to 450m.
You can choose based on which observation deck you wish to visit.

Tokyo Skytree's admission fee can be a bit pricier compared to other towers,

3. Tokyo Skytree Night View Review

The day I went to Shibuya Sky, it was raining, so I couldn't see anything,
but luckily, the weather was clear today!!
After finishing my previous activities, I headed to Skytree
right on time for my reservation.
I had booked my tickets online and prepared the QR code, and when I arrived,
Upon arriving at the venue, the line to purchase same-day tickets
was quite long.
I exchanged my voucher for a physical ticket and entered right away.

After entering, you take an elevator up to the observation deck.
Since the height is so immense,
just riding the elevator up made me feel inexplicably excited!
And it goes up incredibly fast..!

I visited in the summer, and since the sun sets later then,
I booked for 7 PM and went up around 6:30-7:00 PM.
As soon as I arrived at the 350m Tembo Deck,
the wide-open Tokyo cityscape spread out beneath me.
When I visited, it wasn't completely dark yet,
so the buildings and roads were clearly visible.
After a short wait, the sky gradually began to turn orange.

✅ Booking for Sunset Timings
If you're visiting the Skytree, I personally found
the time around sunset to be the best.
During the day, you get clear views of the Tokyo cityscape,
as time passes, the sunset paints the sky,
and then, as lights illuminate each building,
it transforms into a stunning night view.

For September, sunset is around 6 PM, so keep that in mind!

After enjoying the view for a bit, I went up to the 450m deck,
and I'm so glad I went all the way up there while I was at it!

It was relatively less crowded,
making it feel more relaxed to take in the views.

And once the sun set, the atmosphere completely changed.
If during the day it felt like, 'Wow, Tokyo is so vast!'
the night view, with lights gradually illuminating buildings and roads,
made it look like a completely different city.
The time from the blue hour, right after the sun completely sets,
as it transitioned into the full night view, was particularly beautiful.

There's also a souvenir shop and a cafe/restaurant inside, so keep that in mind!
4. Ultimate Tips

✔ Tokyo Skytree: Online Advance Booking Recommended
Because the queue for on-site purchases can be long,
having your tickets ready in advance can save you time.
✔ Book Sunset Timings in Advance
Since the timings where you can witness both sunset and night views are highly popular,
it's best to book in advance once your travel itinerary is set.
✔ Choose Your Preferred Ticket: 350m or 450m
Decide whether you want to visit just the Tembo Deck or go all the way up to the Tembo Galleria!
I personally recommend going up to the Galleria!

✔ To see both the daytime and nighttime views, visit before sunset. Since the sun sets later in summer,
it's also a good idea to book your reservation a bit later.
✔ Be sure to check the weather too. As it's a view from a high place, the scenery can change depending on the weather and
visibility.

What I particularly remember about Tokyo Skytree was seeing Tokyo's appearance change
with the time of day.
If you're planning to visit an observation deck,
I truly hope you manage to snag a reservation for sunset!
