As I'm organizing all my Japan transportation tips, I want to cover how to get from Tokyo's airports to the city center. You've got a few options: Bus, the Narita Express (N'EX), and the Keisei Skyliner. Today, we're focusing on the Skyliner. I highly recommend purchasing your round-trip Skyliner tickets in advance and exchanging them at the airport when you arrive.
Narita Airport Skyliner
Once you land in Tokyo, Japan, and clear immigration, simply follow the signs for 'Train'. You'll quickly spot this information center. It's usually easy to find, as there are always fellow travelers with luggage lining up here. Just join the queue to exchange your round-trip Skyliner voucher. All you need to do is show the QR code on your voucher – it's that simple!
The price for a Skyliner ticket purchased directly at the station is currently 2,580 yen (it recently increased from 2,570 yen). While exchange rates fluctuate, it's almost always cheaper to book your tickets in advance online. Keep an eye out for special discounts on transportation tickets, as these can lead to significant savings!
From Narita to Downtown Tokyo
Once you've successfully exchanged your Skyliner voucher, your ticket will show your departure time. Simply find that time on the electronic display boards and head to the corresponding platform.
In my case, I needed to go to Platform 1. Don't worry, the information is displayed repeatedly in multiple locations, so you can just follow the signs.
Once you've confirmed your train number, simply queue up in front of the corresponding car. It can get a bit crowded here as the walkway isn't super wide.
Returning to Narita Airport
When it's time to head back to Narita Airport, you'll simply reverse the process. You can exchange your return ticket and board the Skyliner at either Ueno Station or Nippori Station. I usually opt for Ueno Station since I'm already familiar with the route.

Once you've exchanged your ticket, just like before, match your departure time on the display board and head to your assigned seat. Don't forget to grab some last-minute Japanese snacks from a convenience store before you go!
Booking Your Tokyo Skyliner Tickets
You can check the round-trip prices and other detailed information for the Tokyo Skyliner on these two platforms. Prices can vary slightly, so it's always best to compare at the moment of purchase to get the most accurate deal. Sometimes, Klook or KKday offer special discount codes. If you see an opportunity to apply one, grabbing your tickets then can save you a good amount! Discounts might be limited by quantity or specific conditions, so if you spot a deal, it's wise to snatch it up, especially if your travel dates are set.
