Tokyo Monchhichi Shopping Guide 2026: Rare & Authentic Finds

First, let me show off my shopping haul!

I already visited Tokyo once this April, and...

...I haven't made plans to go back to Japan before 2026 ends yet.

But the Yen exchange rate is just so good right now,

I keep finding myself gradually converting more Yen!

(I *really* should be prioritizing currency for Thailand and Taiwan first, though!)

We're currently in the middle of a Monchhichi boom,

and you can find Monchhichi everywhere you go in Japan (seriously, *everywhere*).

Because of this, there are also a lot of fake Monchhichis out there,

and so many ordinary Monchhichis too...

​

Amidst all this, I had such a satisfying Monchhichi shopping experience

at a store located in Asakusabashi, Tokyo,

that for the greater good (and all Monchhichi lovers!),

I'm sharing the details with you!

In Tokyo, where transportation can be pricey,

here's how to get unlimited subway rides!

Just by looking at the building's exterior,

you'd *never* imagine there'd be Monchhichis inside!

It looks more like a general store selling traditional Japanese souvenirs.

What is this?!

I spotted a cute Monchhichi drawing on an easel by the entrance,

and I was instantly drawn in.

Walking past various kimonos, fish, swords, and other expensive-looking items,

if you head straight to the very back, just to your right...

your destined encounter with Monchhichis begins!

Where to Find Lots of Monchhichis in Tokyo

Kyugetsu

OMG, a giant Monchhichi! ❤️

(They also have a few other characters like Hello Kitty, Miffy, and Crayon Shin-chan.)

I, who used to search desperately through Monchhichi corners at Don Quijote and drugstores,

felt my heart pound and flutter with excitement

when I found *real* Monchhichis here!

Plus, there was no one else around, so

I felt like an explorer discovering a hidden treasure!

I was even more thrilled,

though truthfully, it's a well-known spot among enthusiasts, so

soon enough, people started trickling in, hehe.

Kyugetsu Monchhichi Selection and Prices

Since I already have so many dolls now,

finding a place with kitchenware like this is truly rare!

From enamel mugs and milk pots to regular mugs, stainless steel tumblers, and glasses – they had it all!

And the prices were surprisingly affordable too,

my eyes practically popped out of my head!

I grabbed a shopping basket as if enchanted.

I sent pictures of the cute mugs to my 'Monch-partner,' Miranda,

to proudly show them off!

Meanwhile, seeing my Oasis jersey...

...and knowing 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is premiering tomorrow (D-1), made me happy all over again!

Adorable Babychichis abound!

There were also Sweet Lollipop Monchhichis,

and tons of acrylic keyrings!

And colorful Monchhichis too!

And one with a beach towel too!

Every nook and cranny,

there were so many rare Monchhichi goodies.

I checked every corner carefully, worried I might miss something,

and perhaps sensing a big spender,

a staff member came over and started explaining everything.

LOL

There's the Snake-chichi released to commemorate the Year of the Green Snake in 2025,

and even the Horse-chichi for the Year of the Red Horse in 2026.

They had quite a lot in stock, too!

There are also soft Monchhichi coin purses.

A pouch for less than ~$6.

And the texture is so soft and cuddly~_~

The price is so affordable,

I think they'd make great gifts, but

I have to keep these Monchhichis all to myself.....

There were also Monchhichi dolls wearing commemorative T-shirts featuring the artist Katsushika Hokusai.

A cute Monchhichi bag.

This one was a sample displayed with no stock available,

marked as "last stock."

It was a bit disappointing, but it still somehow found its way into my shopping cart...

My shopping cart is already completely full...

Monchhichi perpetual calendar.

It's ~$24,

but people are reselling them with a premium on online marketplaces in Korea,

which just makes me shake my head...

There are also cute handbags.

Imagine how adorable little kids would look carrying these... 💜

Monchhichis wearing kimonos.

They were even cuter because they came in various sizes.

But then someone came up behind me

and bought these kimono Monchhichis in bulk,

making me wonder, "Are they a reseller?"

Suddenly, these kimono Monchhichis started looking even cuter,

but I didn't end up buying any.

Now, after seeing the market price, I regret it.

Hehe.

The giant Monchhichi I would've brought home

if I only had space in my suitcase.

Even though the space wasn't huge,

it was packed with so many varieties of adorable Monchhichis,

making it an absolute joy to browse at

My adorable purple lollipop Monchhichi –

I didn't just buy it because it was purple;

I'm just a good-hearted ARMY who genuinely found purple cute!

After my Monchhichi shopping spree,

I went to buy even more Monchhichis!

My friend just shook their head,

but still kindly carried my bursting-at-the-seams paper bag.

The Monchhichis I happily brought back from Tokyo, with hands full,

I gently placed on a shelf,

and I'll definitely plan my next Monchhichi hunt!

But first, I'm really hoping for a Korea-exclusive Monchhichi!

I want one so badly!
