Located just 5 minutes from Kagurazaka Station,
Canal Cafe is nestled in a spot that feels like a "Little France."
I recently visited Canal Cafe.
When you think of Tokyo, you probably picture a city of buildings,
right?
But even within that Tokyo,
I discovered a quiet and relaxed space.
It's like a healing spot!
It's a place where you can feel
a different, slower pace of relaxation,
distinct from Tokyo's bustling vibe.
It felt like I had stepped into another world.
Kagurazaka Street, with its many hills.
It's near Iidabashi Station,
where the JR Chuo Line and multiple Tokyo Metro
lines intersect,
making it easily accessible from anywhere.
With a calm river flowing by and subways passing every so often,
it was both fascinating and atmospheric,
making me feel truly glad I came.
There's Kagurazaka Street nearby,
with many European restaurants and cafes.
I tried going up to the second floor of this cafe, but it was full.
If you go down from the entrance past this sign,
you'll find the terrace seating right by the river.

At the ordering counter,
they sell beer, coffee, and other beverages.
Both card and cash payments are accepted.
They also have pizza
and gelato.
They have a wide variety of gelato flavors.
Under the warm sunshine, it wasn't chilly at all,
and it felt so peaceful.
Inside,
there were plenty of seats, and quite a few people were already enjoying themselves.
The restroom is conveniently located right on your right.
I was genuinely surprised to find a place like this in Tokyo!
With boats, beautiful buildings,
and even subways passing by,
it felt even more special and truly memorable.
I ordered a Vanilla Latte and
a Mango Gelato to try out.
It was surprisingly delicious!
We saw huge carp,
and on the left side,
a wedding reception was taking place.
It was quite a unique experience to watch!
Even though it was winter, it wasn't nearly as cold as Seoul,
allowing us to relax by gazing at the water,
and truly enjoy the peaceful ambiance. It made me so happy!

There's even a designated photo spot!
My husband and I were taking photos of each other,
when a kind Japanese person offered
to take a picture of both of us together.
We were so grateful for their thoughtfulness!
It was really cool to see the subway trains constantly zipping past!
So, on your next Tokyo adventure, definitely try to carve out some time to visit!
Canal Cafe is located about a 5-minute walk from Kagurazaka Station. It's also near Iidabashi Station, which is a major interchange for the JR Chuo Line and several Tokyo Metro lines, making it easily accessible from anywhere.
Canal Cafe operates from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Both card and cash payments are accepted.
If the second-floor seating is full, you can go down from the entrance with the sign to immediately access the riverside terrace seating. Here, you can enjoy the tranquil river and watch the occasional subway trains pass by.
Beyond beer, coffee, and other beverages, Canal Cafe also sells pizza and various types of gelato. Visitors can admire the impressively large koi fish, observe wedding receptions taking place on the left side, and even enjoy the unique ambiance with boats.
