Tokyo is a city with so much to see and do that it can actually be a bit overwhelming trying to decide where to go.
If you're feeling a little lost and happen to be a fan of the Harry Potter movies,
I highly recommend adding a visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour to your itinerary!

It takes you right behind the scenes of how the films were made,
complete with incredible photo spots
that make you feel like you've literally stepped into the wizarding world.
Today, I'm sharing all the details on how to book discounted tickets
and my personal review of the visit!

First, let's look at the ticket prices and booking methods
for the Tokyo Harry Potter Studio Tour.
Category (Adult) | Official Website Price | Partner Booking Site Price |
Low Season | 6,300 JPY | ~$37 |
Regular Season | 6,500 JPY | ~$38 |
Peak Season | 6,700 JPY | ~$40 |
Super Peak Season | 7,000 JPY | ~$41 |
Ticket prices are divided into four seasonal tiers.
Low season is the most affordable at 6,300 JPY,
while super peak season is about 10% more expensive at 7,000 JPY.
So, if you want to save a bit, visiting on weekdays instead of
weekends or holidays is definitely the way to go!
Also, booking through the link below is actually
❗️about ~$1 cheaper
than buying directly from the official website.

Next up, let's look at how to get in
and what the incredible lobby atmosphere looks like!

At the entrance of the Harry Potter Studio Tour,
they display the booking times currently allowed for entry.
Instead of showing up way too early,
I highly recommend arriving about 30 minutes before
your scheduled entry time.

When entering, you just need to show the QR code from your booking.
I recommend taking a screenshot of it on your phone beforehand,
or printing it out like I did for a hassle-free entry.

As soon as we stepped into the lobby, my heart started racing
seeing the massive dragon from the movies suspended in the air!

To the right of the lobby, there's even a food court
designed to look just like the Great Hall from the movies.
If you happen to arrive early and have some time before your tour starts,
this is the perfect spot to hang out and grab a bite.

However, while they sell food that looks like it jumped straight out of the movies,
it is quite pricey—with a single muffin costing 650 yen (approx. $4).
So do keep those steep prices in mind!
Next, let me share my honest review
of the Harry Potter Studio Tour itself.

The entrance to the studio is right in front of the lobby,
and you'll go through another ticket check before heading inside.
❗️ Just a heads-up: you can only enter the tour within 30 minutes
of your reserved timeslot, so when you book,
be sure to keep an eye on the clock!

You'll wait briefly in an indoor holding area,
and after a quick safety briefing, the real magic begins!

As the tour officially starts, the grand doors swing open to reveal
the most iconic location from the Harry Potter films:
the spectacular Great Hall!

From the characters' costumes to the props and long tables,
everything is recreated so perfectly
that it truly felt like I had stepped right into the movie.
A staff member will give a brief introduction here,
but feel free to explore and move along at your own pace.

The incredible dedication to matching the movie sets
was just as clear in the very next room.
The dormitory's moving staircase
and the living, moving portraits were beautifully recreated.

Even though you can't step directly inside,
seeing the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms
brought to life was absolutely fascinating.
It made me feel like I was transported back to when I first watched the films,
bringing back so many cozy nostalgic memories.

Almost every corner of the tour is a perfect photo spot,
so everyone was busy snapping away.
The Mirror of Erised (on the left) was especially popular—
with more than 10 people waiting in line at any given moment,
making it one of the absolute hottest photo ops!

Continuing along the path,
we stumbled right into the set of the Forbidden Forest
from the movies.
The dim lighting created a wonderfully eerie atmosphere,
and with the massive trees and giant spiders
recreated so realistically,
this was easily my personal favorite set of the entire tour.

As you reach the end of Part 1 of the tour,
you'll step out into an outdoor backlot area.
Out here, they've incredibly recreated iconic props
that any Harry Potter fan will instantly recognize, like
Hagrid's Hut, the giant Wizard's Chess pieces, and the Knight Bus.
You can touch them and take photos right next to them,
making this one of the absolute best photo spots on the tour.

Stepping into the Part 2 area, the very first thing
you'll encounter is the legendary Hogwarts Express and Platform 9 ¾.
Having visited the actual filming location in London myself,
I was amazed by how perfectly they recreated it here—it looks almost identical!
Since it's basically where the magic all begins,
it was easily one of the most popular photo spots for visitors.

While Part 2 of the tour still has plenty of fun things to see and photo ops,
it focuses more on behind-the-scenes movie secrets
and explanations of filmmaking techniques.
So, my tip is to snap as many photos as you can
during the first half of the tour and in the outdoor backlot!

Once you reach the crown jewel of the Harry Potter Studio,
Diagon Alley, it means you're nearing
the end of your magical journey.
From the vibrant colors of the whimsical shops
to the charming details of the British streets,
this is another incredible spot to fill your camera roll.

The grand finale of the tour is a stunning,
intricately detailed scale model of the entire Hogwarts Castle.
While it's a model, the level of detail is mind-blowing.
You can admire not only the famous front facade we always see in the movies,
but also the back of the castle and the rugged cliffs it sits on.
Seeing it like this made me realize for the first time
just how massive Hogwarts is and how many hidden corners it has!

And of course, the true end of any great tour has to be the souvenir shop, right?

From Harry's owl Hedwig plushies to magic wands,
Hogwarts robes, and magical sweets,
if you're a Potterhead, you could easily
spend hours just browsing the merchandise!
