4. Getting There and Choosing Your Entry Time
How to get to Toshimaen Station, Tokyo,
It's quite a trek... so go early!
Once you get off at Toshimaen Station, you can walk to the Warner Bros. Studio.
But... it's surprisingly far from central Tokyo, seriously!
While it's about 20 minutes direct from Shinjuku via the Oedo Line,
I started from somewhere like Asakusa in Tokyo... and with a bit of confusion at the stations, it ended up taking me 1.5 to 2 hours to get there.
Departure Area | Mainly by Train | Perceived Travel Time (Accommodation → Entrance) |
Ikebukuro | Approx. 17-20 min, direct | Approx. 30-40 min |
Shinjuku | Approx. 20 min, Oedo Line direct | Approx. 35-45 min |
Shibuya | Approx. 35-45 min, usually with transfer | Approx. 50 min-1 hour |
Roppongi | Approx. 30-40 min, via Oedo Line | Approx. 45-55 min |
Tokyo Station | Approx. 40-50 min, 1+ transfers | Approx. 55 min-1 hour 10 min |
Ginza | Approx. 45-55 min | Approx. 1 hour-1 hour 15 min |
Ueno | Approx. 45-60 min | Approx. 1 hour-1 hour 15 min |
Asakusa | Approx. 55-65 min | Approx. 1 hour 10 min-1 hour 30 min |
Shinagawa | Approx. 50-60 min | Approx. 1 hour 5 min-1 hour 20 min |
- Security check before entry
- Consider visiting restrooms, cafes, and merchandise shops inside Tokyo Harry Potter Studio, so you should arrive early.
You won't be able to enter if you miss the last admission time...!
- Entering in the late afternoon means your energy will drop after your visit, and getting back will be so late and exhausting... you'll be crawling back to your accommodation.
- And before entering, there's a souvenir shop decorated like a Harry Potter magic store (my heart literally pounded when I saw it!). Be careful not to get too distracted here and miss your entry time.
You can use the food hall, cafe, main shop, and locker facilities even before entering the Harry Potter Studio, so it's recommended to arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour before your reserved time.
5. Tokyo Harry Potter Studio: Packing Checklist

Tokyo Harry Potter Studio essentials:
Stamina and money
And a costume (?)
:There are free lockers outside, but they require a 100 yen refundable deposit, and the facility states that coin exchange is not supported inside.
[When I visited, they provided a free coin for the lockers upon entry, but I heard that has changed now.]
Important Note:
***
Seriously, if you go there in person, there are seriously so many opportunities to spend money.
And if you go there with just plain, normal clothes, it's going to be boring.
Everyone else is wearing Harry Potter costumes...
Was I the only one who looked like a film director?
So, to feel normal and have fun at Tokyo Harry Potter Studio,
you really should wear a costume.
But here's the catch...?
Tokyo is expensive, right?
And the prices at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter are even higher.
Seriously, a single hair tie can cost like ~$7 to ~$15,

Even that snake plushie was about ~$22 to ~$29.
As for the Harry Potter house robes or wands,
they seriously start from ~$73 to ~$146!
So, I highly recommend bringing plenty of money to buy authentic items there,
or
purchasing Harry Potter costume outfits and wands from places like Tem* before you go.
6. Actual Time Spent & Review of Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter
Having visited myself, 3 hours is definitely not enough for
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter.
Even if you just quickly glance at the main exhibits at the Harry Potter Studio,
it will take you at least 3-4 hours.

But you've come all the way to Tokyo and made it to the Harry Potter Studio –
are you seriously going to leave without filming yourself playing Quidditch?
Assume there's something to photograph or film at every single set.
If you do all of that, you'll be genuinely exhausted, and it will take even longer.
And the Harry Potter sets are surprisingly so incredibly
well-made that I almost felt like I was dating Malfoy????
If you're a true Harry Potter fan, you simply
won't be able to just breeze through it.
I entered during the last slot at 3 PM and think I left around 8 PM, just before closing = 5 hours....
In the middle of it all, I was so exhausted that
I grabbed a Butterbeer and a simple meal in Hogsmeade, and visited the merchandise shops.
So, you really need to set aside almost an entire day.
P.S. Although Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter's
officially recommended viewing time is 3-4 hours,
there is no limit on how long you can stay.
7. Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter
Additional Tips / Choosing Accommodation
Between standing, watching, and taking photos, you'll be genuinely more tired than you expect when you leave........
Especially if you've booked an afternoon ticket or are going with children, it's a good idea not to take your accommodation location lightly for that day.
Let me reiterate: Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter is not
a theme park primarily focused on rides;
it's a theme park where you get to wander around the actual Harry Potter filming sets.
First of all, if you don't like Harry Potter or aren't familiar with it = you might find it tough.
Don't go with someone who isn't a fan!
And even if you love it dearly, if you spend the whole day walking around like this,
you'll truly
be utterly, utterly, utterly exhausted by the time you head home.
Even with my good stamina,
my legs felt like they were going to break, and I practically crawled back to the hotel.
Taking the Tokyo subway for over an hour,
I honestly felt like crying.
So, if I were to go again,
or for those traveling with children,
or if your stamina isn't usually great,
"Consider booking a night in an accommodation near Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter, in Toshimaen,"
vs
"Or stay in Ikebukuro or Shinjuku, which offer direct access without transfers."
If accessibility to the Harry Potter Studio is your priority:
The downside is that there aren't many hotel options directly near Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter, but the advantage is that you can save a lot of physical energy.
If you're also planning to sightsee around Tokyo:
From Shinjuku, it's a direct 20-minute ride to the Harry Potter Studio,
making it relatively close & the most convenient location for exploring Tokyo the next day.
