Hey there, global explorers! Kim Yupa here.
So, on my recent Tokyo trip, something rather unexpected happened – in a good way, actually!
A typhoon rolled in, causing my flight to be delayed by about 10 hours.
Luckily, I had traveler's insurance, so thanks to that,
I got to enjoy a luxurious hotel-cation!
While trying to decide where to stay,
I was completely captivated by the Odaiba view, so
deciding on the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba was a no-brainer!

And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it!
From my window, I could gaze upon the magnificent Rainbow Bridge, and even
catch a distant glimpse of the iconic Tokyo Tower – it made for an absolutely dreamy hotel-cation!!
So this time, I'll be sharing my experiences, one by one, with
my own honest review of a stay I paid for myself :)

Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Hotel: Essential Details & Check-in

📍 Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba
2-chōme-6-1 Daiba, Minato City, Tokyo 135-8701 Japan
Check-in 3:00 PM / Check-out 11:00 AM
The magnificent place I called home for this impromptu hotel-cation was none other than the
Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Hotel,
nestled beautifully in Tokyo's vibrant Odaiba district.
Connected directly to Daiba Station,
it’s incredibly easy to find – no navigation woes here!
Check-in |

Upon stepping into the Grand Nikko Daiba, you'll pass through the lobby to check in.
Even the lobby itself was adorned in a European style, truly setting the tone for a luxurious stay.

While check-in staff are proficient in Japanese and English,
don't worry if there's a language barrier!
The wonderful staff even have translation devices, so
we smoothly checked in using our translators together – truly making every guest feel welcome and understood!

Premier Floor Superior Double Room (Rainbow Bridge Side)
So, the room I originally booked was a
Premier Floor Superior Double Room.
I'd naturally assumed it would come with that iconic Rainbow Bridge view, but alas, it didn't!
Determined to get that view, I headed downstairs, explained what I was hoping for, and
upgraded my room by paying an extra fee.
Here's what the original Premier Floor Superior Double Room view looked like.
From what I gather, it offered a scenic panorama of the port and Haneda Airport.

Premier Floor Superior Double Room (Rainbow Bridge Side) |

The room I ended up with after my upgrade and an additional fee
was the fabulous room 2008.
As soon as I changed rooms, I went up to the new one,
and the moment I stepped inside,
the first thing that caught my eye, of course, was the view outside the window.

Because of the typhoon, I couldn't see the view during the day,
but at night, as the typhoon passed,
I could see the Rainbow Bridge and even the Tokyo Tower beyond it.
It was absolutely stunning!!!!

Here's a glimpse of the Grand Nikko Daiba guest rooms.

The room was quite spacious,
and the bedding was wonderfully firm,
allowing me to get a truly deep sleep for the first time in ages.

And as for the amenities,
there were various types of tea available for enjoying water or tea,
and for coffee, a Nespresso machine with capsules was provided.

Since I was here to enjoy a 'hotel-cation' (a staycation at a hotel),
I bought some snacks from the convenience store on the first floor,
and relaxed in my room with coffee and tea.
Bathroom |

And I absolutely loved the bathroom!
Not only were the basic amenities well-stocked,
but the hairdryer was also quite powerful,
making it super easy to dry my hair.

What's more, the shampoo and body wash were
Le Mer products, which was a lovely touch.

On top of that, the bath additive wasn't just a regular product;
it was a salt type, which was a pleasant surprise.
After a full day of exploring and returning to the room,
dissolving the bath salts in warm water,
it truly felt like I was enjoying a proper hotel-cation right there in my room.
What about the hotel stay price?
And, of course, when looking at hotel reviews,
I imagine many of you are most curious about the price.
This time, based on a silver room + weekend rate,
I stayed for approximately ~$370 per night.
However, during the regular season, it seems you can enjoy a stay for around ~$148 to ~$222.

The cost of your hotel stay can vary depending on the season and your booking date,
so it's a good idea to keep that in mind.
Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Breakfast
You can enjoy breakfast at 4 different locations!
On the 3rd floor, you'll find a Western + Japanese buffet
While on the 30th floor, you can choose between Japanese home-style cuisine, sushi, or shabu-shabu.

Initially, after seeing the pictures,
I was torn between the Japanese home-style meal and sushi,
but since I was already in Japan, I decided to go for sushi!

There were about 9 different kinds of sushi,
and they were made fresh right on the spot,
so you can imagine how incredibly fresh they were!!

You could also enjoy a soup made with fish and fish cakes alongside your meal,
and it was served piping hot so it wouldn't get cold!!

What truly made my morning, though,
was the warm and welcoming greetings I received when entering and leaving.
It really started the day off on a great note!
So, What Was It Like to Stay There Myself?
Reflecting on my stay, one thing really stood out:
what I loved most, without a doubt, was the view.
Coming back to the hotel after a day of exploring,
being able to see the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower
right from my room was surprisingly delightful and really made the experience special.
I actually spent a lot of time agonizing over whether to choose a hotel with a Tokyo Tower view
or a Rainbow Bridge view.
But honestly, picking Grand Nikko Daiba
for its Rainbow Bridge view was definitely the right choice!
If you're wondering why I didn't opt for the Hyatt, well...
the Hyatt requires a minimum stay of two nights!
And in my opinion, one luxurious hotel night is perfectly enough during a trip!
How to Get from Grand Nikko Daiba Station to Haneda Airport
There's a limousine bus that goes from Odaiba to Haneda Airport.
It seems to stop at major hotels and stations, circulating through the area,
and Nikko Daiba was one of the last stops.
It took about 25 minutes.

You can catch it right in front of the hotel,
and I booked it in advance using an app.
Overall Review
When choosing a hotel in Tokyo,
while room condition is important,
this time, the view from the window alone
left a truly lasting impression on my travel memories.
The price was around ~$370 on a weekend,
but during off-peak seasons, prices in the ~$220s are possible,
so it's a good idea to compare prices based on your travel dates before booking.
This has been my personal review of the
Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba, paid for entirely by myself. :)
