Mount Fuji is definitely one of those places you dream of visiting when you go to Japan.
As I entered my 40s, finding a time to go on an overseas trip with a friend became quite a challenge.
But since this October trip to Tokyo was hard-won,
I was determined to make every single day count!
While I went with a friend, I saw many families and
people traveling with their parents there too.

Mount Fuji is an iconic spot,
but just visiting one location there can easily cost over ~$37.
If you go independently, you'd need to transfer between trains and buses twice,
and I wasn't keen on exhausting myself.
Plus, having to figure out timetables and transfer info in advance felt like a hassle,
so I decided to go for comfort.
That's why I chose
a Mount Fuji bus tour departing from Tokyo!

With a Korean-speaking guide and a private bus,
we could travel effortlessly without worrying about navigation.
What I loved most was being able to visit
multiple famous Mount Fuji photo spots
all in one day.
In November, you can witness the stunning autumn foliage alongside Mount Fuji.
From December to about February,
you'll be treated to the magnificent sight of a snow-capped Mount Fuji.
However, the rainy season in June-July is not recommended.
Mount Fuji Bus Tour: What kind of trip is it?
I booked through MyRealTrip, with the operator
gogoday.
I compared several options on MyRealTrip and chose this one because it had many reviews and a high rating – 4.9 stars with 4,021 reviews!
The regular price was ~$41,
but I got to go for ~$38.
It books up fast,
so it's a good idea to reserve in advance.

Arrival Point: In front of the police box at Tokyo Station Marunouchi Square
Total Duration: 10 hours
8:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Meet in front of the police box at Marunouchi Square
There are a lot of people doing day tours at Marunouchi,
so be sure to arrive early
and look for your GoGo Tour guide with a yellow flag!
Seats were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis by reservation,
and the bus was completely full with about 45 people!
The day before, between 7 PM and 9 PM,
you'll receive an email with your guide's contact information
and detailed meeting point instructions.
After about two hours of travel, you'll arrive at
Arakurayama Sengen Park, where you can catch your first glimpse of Mount Fuji!
Arakurayama Sengen Park
After a ~10-minute walk from Shimoyoshida Station parking lot,
you'll find a set of stairs. Just climb these stairs,

and you'll be greeted by Arakurayama Sengen Park,
where you can behold Mount Fuji in all its glory!

With the five-story pagoda and Mount Fuji perfectly framed together,
it's known as one of the 21 places
photographers worldwide must see.
In spring, you'll see cherry blossoms; in late autumn, like now, vibrant fall foliage.
The Mount Fuji view is especially breathtaking on a clear day.

Our guide took so many fantastic burst photos for us,
capturing many great shots!

Isn't it absolutely stunning? Even more so than I imagined!
I was so amazed by the incredible size of Mount Fuji!

Our guide even provided restaurant and tourist information like this,
sending it via KakaoTalk,
which was incredibly helpful!

The recommended local treats were strawberry ice cream and Fuji apples...
So, on our way down, I decided to grab some strawberry ice cream.

If I recall correctly, this was 700 yen... The taste is pleasantly tart.

Hitakawa Clock Shop

From Sengen Park,
as you walk straight down,

along the road of the Hitakawa Clock Shop,
and continuing straight for about 3 minutes,
you'll find an SNS photo spot that leads to Mount Fuji!
We ended up going to a convenience store,
so we couldn't go all the way in.
You can see Mount Fuji from inside, and even from the end of the road,
it's slightly visible.

After that, it was time for lunch!
Lunch wasn't included, so we ate separately,
but our guide recommended a restaurant,
where my friend and I pre-selected two dishes.
We enjoyed a hearty and delicious meal, spending around 1,500-3,000 yen.

We had lunch at this restaurant!

If you're not a fan of the restaurant,
you can always grab a bite at Lotteria or any of the other restaurants nearby.
I, personally, had a really delicious meal!
Oshino Hakkai

Nestled at the northern base of Mount Fuji, it's a charming lake village
where the melted snow from Mount Fuji filters through the earth and springs forth as eight incredibly clear pools.
It's even been designated a natural monument, and the water is truly crystal clear! You'll even spot some impressively large carp swimming around.

Our guide was fantastic, taking incredibly natural photos of my friend and me.
They must have taken about a hundred continuous shots throughout the day!
I was so happy with how they turned out!
So friendly, and the photos were pure perfection!

You can get another fantastic view of Mount Fuji from here!
The place was bustling with people, and there were so many souvenirs and delicious snacks to try.
This spot is particularly famous for fresh wasabi,
and also for its delicious Shine Muscat grapes!
And of course, plenty of eateries to satisfy any craving.

Kawaguchiko Lawson Convenience Store with Fuji View

This spot was also incredibly popular and packed with people!

The photos turned out incredible, even without editing!
The weather was simply perfect that day,
allowing us to witness the truly magnificent Mount Fuji in all its glory.
Kawaguchiko Oishi Park

Kawaguchiko Oishi Park & Maple Corridor (November 7th to November 29th)
This park, nestled on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko,
offers breathtaking simultaneous views of the lake and Mount Fuji!
If you visit during this special period, you'll also get to experience the stunning
Maple Corridor, lined with vibrant maple trees –
truly the most beautiful time to go!

You'll find Shine Muscat grapes here,
and they also sell delicious lavender ice cream!

Regarding this lavender ice cream,
it's a great idea to hop in line as soon as you arrive!
The queue can get quite long,
so I recommend grabbing your ice cream first, then taking your time to explore!
To be honest, catching a glimpse of Mount Fuji truly depends on the weather gods
smiling upon you that day.
However, a bus tour still
takes away all the stress of figuring out transportation, optimizing your route, and finding the best photo spots
all at once!
So, if you're looking to dedicate one day of your Tokyo adventure
to Mount Fuji,
it's definitely a very satisfying option.
Just remember that you'll need to gather back at a designated time,
If you're someone who loves to really soak in a single spot,
this tour might feel a tad short.
Pro-Tips Before You Go!
Always check Mt. Fuji's weather forecast the day before your trip.
Mountain weather can be incredibly fickle,
and you definitely don't want clouds hiding that majestic peak!
In November, the area around Mt. Fuji is much chillier than Tokyo.
I highly recommend dressing in multiple thin layers to stay warm.
Since travel time can be quite long, bringing a portable charger and
a neck pillow will make your journey so much more comfortable.
When you arrive, prioritize snapping your photos first,
then you can efficiently enjoy the sights afterwards!
