I'm thrilled to be planning a return visit to Tokyo Disney after quite some time! As you might know, Tokyo offers two incredible parks:
DisneySea, with its unique ocean-themed adventures, the only one of its kind globally.
Disneyland, the quintessential Disney experience that springs to mind when you think of magic.
I've been to both before, but this time around, I'm heading to DisneySea because of the exciting new Frozen and Rapunzel areas that recently opened! I can't wait to explore them.
While booking my tickets, I discovered some fantastic ways to get them for less than the regular price. Plus, I've got all the essential info on Disney Premier Access (DPA), which is a must-know if you want to maximize your time on rides. I've compiled everything below, so make sure to read through before your trip! :)
1. Scoring Discounts on Tokyo Disney Tickets
Unlike some other parks, purchasing Tokyo Disney Resort tickets is pretty straightforward!
(Things like DPA, early entry passes, or meal coupons aren't pre-booked; DPA is purchased on arrival, for example.)
However, there's one crucial detail: you can't buy tickets at the gate. You'll need to purchase them in advance and register them to your app for a much smoother and more efficient park experience!

Your Main Choice: Which Park to Pick?
You essentially have three options to choose from:
1) Tokyo DisneySea
2) Tokyo Disneyland
3) Park Hopper Pass
The Park Hopper Pass allows you to visit both Disneyland and DisneySea on the same day. Personally, if it's your first visit, I wouldn't recommend the Park Hopper.
When I first went, I spent one full day at DisneySea and another at Disneyland. Each park offers so much to see and do that trying to squeeze both into a single day can be exhausting and frankly, you'll miss out on a lot.

If you're still weighing your options between DisneySea and Disneyland, here’s a quick guide:
For ride enthusiasts and fans of Frozen or Rapunzel > DisneySea
For the classic Disney character atmosphere > Disneyland
While I personally prefer the overall vibe of Disneyland, I decided on DisneySea this time to experience the new Rapunzel-themed area! :)

Important Tip!
Disney ticket prices fluctuate based on the date. Off-peak days and weekdays are always cheaper. So, if you're planning your itinerary, aiming for a weekday visit to Disney can save you some money (the difference can be over ~$6!).
▼ Check Prices by Visit Date ▼
1) Purchase Tokyo Disney Resort Tickets < After accessing the link,
2) Select your date and preferred park.
That's all it takes to buy your admission ticket!
2. Understanding Tokyo Disney DPA
If you're new to Disney, DPA might be an unfamiliar term. DPA stands for Disney Premier Access, and it's a paid ticket that allows you to use a priority line for certain rides, significantly cutting down on your wait time.
However, even DPA tickets sell out quickly during peak seasons, often requiring you to arrive right at opening (the "open run") to secure your purchase. Prices typically range from ~$10 to ~$16 per ride.

There's another fantastic way to experience rides faster: by utilizing the 40th Anniversary Pass! While it doesn't cover as many attractions, it's a valuable tool if used wisely, and since it's free, there's absolutely no reason not to take advantage of it!
* DisneySea DPA & 40th Anniversary Pass Ride List *
DPA | Soaring: Fantastic Flight Sea of Dreams Tower of Terror Toy Story Mania! Frozen Journey Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure Rapunzel's Lantern Festival Journey to the Center of the Earth |
40th Anniversary Pass | Aquatopia Nemo & Friends SeaRider Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull Raging Spirits 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea |
If you plan to use both DPA and the 40th Anniversary Pass, installing the official Tokyo Disney Resort App is absolutely essential.
Once you've purchased your tickets, open the app, select your park, click "Scan Ticket," and register your tickets in advance!

If you're visiting with two or more people, don't have one person register all tickets. Instead, each person should register their ticket on their own phone. After registration, you can "Group" your tickets in the app, allowing for simultaneous bookings for DPA or the 40th Anniversary Pass.
This means if you arrive right at park opening and start booking immediately, you'll have a much higher chance of experiencing more attractions!
A = Book DPA / B = Book 40th Anniversary Pass
Also, a quick heads-up: some credit cards might not work for in-app purchases. It's a good idea to have at least two different credit cards with you as a backup to minimize payment failures!
3. Getting to Tokyo Disney Resort
The closest station to Tokyo Disney Resort is JR Maihama Station!
Disneyland is just a 5-minute walk (about 0.2 miles) from the station. DisneySea, however, requires a transfer to the Disney Resort Line, so it takes a little longer to reach.

Unless you're staying at a hotel right near Tokyo Disney Resort, the most convenient area for transportation from the city center is near Tokyo Station. You can reach the parks by public transport in about 15 minutes from there!
For a great value option near Tokyo Station (though rooms can be compact!), I recommend the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Tokyo-Kyobashi :)

With my Tokyo Disney trip just around the corner, I wanted to share these essential ticket and DPA tips!
My goal is to snag two DPA passes and two 40th Anniversary Passes. If you have any favorite rides you'd recommend, please leave a comment! Haha.
