My Air Seoul Experience & Immigration Review

It feels like Tokyo flight prices have been through the roof lately, doesn't it?
Especially if you're eyeing a full-service carrier (FSC) or a round trip to Haneda Airport, the costs can be prohibitive. For many of us, scoring a good deal means opting for a budget-friendly airline (LCC) flying into Narita Airport and back.
But are LCC flights truly a comfortable option?
Today, I'll share my recent experience flying with Air Seoul and navigating the immigration process at Narita Airport Terminal 1!
Let's talk about Tokyo flight costs first. To be frank, prices have generally increased, especially during peak holiday seasons. For example, special fares for popular travel months like February and March are often sold out well in advance.
Mid-February in 2026, for instance, saw a spike in prices due to the Lunar New Year holidays, and early March continued to be pricey with holidays such as Samiljeol keeping demand high.
While I'd normally recommend aiming for Tokyo flights around the ~$207 mark during off-peak times, given the current demand, anywhere between ~$242 to ~$276 is a pretty reasonable price point right now.
(I actually snagged a Friday-to-Monday flight for ~$276 myself.)

For this trip, I flew with Air Seoul. Here's how my experience went.
Air Seoul used to operate out of Incheon Airport Terminal 1, but they relocated to Terminal 2 in September 2025. Terminal 2 used to be pretty quiet, but since many airlines moved there last September, it was surprisingly bustling with travelers.
My Air Seoul flight to Tokyo departed from Gate 287, which means you'll need to head all the way to the far left after clearing security. It took me almost 15 minutes to walk there, so make sure to factor that into your timing!
My 4:40 PM flight started boarding at 4:05 PM, and we departed right on schedule without any delays.
The legroom on the plane was a bit snug; for someone around 5 feet 11 inches tall, it was pretty much a perfect fit. If you're a taller or larger passenger, I'd definitely recommend snagging an aisle seat for a more comfortable journey.
The flight itself was relatively short, about two hours. However, after landing at Narita Airport, we spent nearly 20 minutes taxiing on the ground before reaching our disembarkation point. So, in total, I was on the plane for almost two and a half hours before finally getting off.
In conclusion, while the legroom was a bit tight, the total flight time wasn't excessively long. If the price is right, I'd say it's definitely a worthwhile option.
Next up, my experience with Tokyo airport immigration. Since taking photos isn't allowed in the immigration area, I'll describe it in detail.
After disembarking, it was about a 5-minute walk to the immigration hall. On a Friday evening around 7:30 PM, the immigration lines weren't overly long, with about four queues open at the counters.
The immigration process involved scanning fingerprints and facial recognition, followed by a face-to-face check with an officer using a QR code. There were no questions asked during the process, and including the wait time, it took approximately 30 minutes. Remember, the later you get off the plane, the longer your wait might be, so try to move quickly!
After immigration, I collected my luggage and proceeded through the self-service customs check. My bags were already on the carousel, so this step took less than 5 minutes.
The overall process wasn't as long as I'd anticipated, but do note that the immigration hall was incredibly hot, so be prepared!
To wrap things up, here's a quick summary of my experience and tips:
Currently, with increased demand, Tokyo flight prices between ~$242 and ~$276 are considered reasonable. I personally booked my Air Seoul flight for ~$276.

Be prepared for Narita Airport immigration to take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The hall can get quite warm due to the crowds, so dressing in light layers is a smart move.
