Many travelers arrive in Denpasar late at night and use Tegal Sari as a comfortable, affordable stopover before heading to a more luxurious, pricier resort for the rest of their stay.

So, does 'budget-friendly' mean 'subpar'?

I wondered the same before my stay, but I was pleasantly surprised! I checked in immediately upon arrival.

After checking in, I was guided to my garden-side room, which involved a short walk along an outdoor path.

My Double Room with Terrace offered a lovely view overlooking the rice paddies. The weather was perfect for sitting out, but be warned: mosquitoes and other insects were abundant, making evening relaxation on the terrace a challenge.

Inside, one corner featured a vanity and desk,

while another had a lounge chair and sofa. The room wasn't compartmentalized, but it felt incredibly spacious.

The bed against the wall was a charming 'princess' style, complete with a canopy! With a double and a single bed, it seemed perfect for three people. Truly a spacious room!

While the princess bed felt a little whimsical, it was surprisingly effective at keeping bugs at bay, making for a comfortable night's sleep.

The bathroom included a toilet, bathtub, and shower, all in an open-plan layout without separate partitions.

There were guest notices and a wooden accessory whose purpose I couldn't quite decipher. Perhaps it's a unique hotel emblem? Checking in was straightforward, and the hotel offers various room types. These are generally divided into high-floor Twin Villas (with balconies), rooms near the check-in counter (with showers), and garden-view rooms (like the one pictured, with a terrace). Keep these options in mind when booking.

There's a rooftop pool next to the yoga room, and a garden pool on the ground floor. The rooftop pool is on the smaller side and, honestly, more of a pool on a rooftop than a true 'rooftop pool' with breathtaking views.

However, the ground-floor garden pool, as you can see, is perfect for photos and a refreshing dip.

At this point, you're probably thinking, 'Is this place really only ~$55 - ~$62 a night? What a steal!' I initially used it as a stopover before moving to a more upscale hotel after a late-night arrival, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice.
