We needed a last-minute place to stay for a night in Ubud.
While searching for accommodations, I found a spot with incredible value and an authentic Balinese vibe.
That's how we ended up spending a night at #TegalSariAccommodation.
If you're looking for a budget-friendly Ubud hotel under ~$38 a night,
I highly recommend checking this place out.

📍 10-minute walk to the Sacred Monkey Forest

The location is absolutely unbeatable.
One of the unique advantages of Tegal Sari is that
the property stretches long and narrow.
If you exit through the front gate, you're right in the main uptown area of Ubud.
But if you take the back exit, you step straight out into the downtown area
where the famous #YogaBarn is located.

We booked on-site at the very last minute,
so we paid about ~$54 for one night.
When I checked Agoda later,
I saw special rates ranging from ~$23 to an average of ~$46 per night!
It truly is the ultimate budget-friendly #UbudHotel.
They proudly display a TripAdvisor award,
and the lobby has a wonderfully eco-friendly, open-air design.
For amenities, they have two swimming pools—
one on the ground floor and another on the rooftop. They aren't huge, but they are refreshing.
There's also a cozy library near the back lobby,
so definitely check it out if you want a quiet place to read! :)
Authentic Balinese vibes with an unforgettable view
[The Best Rice Paddy View in Ubud ✨]
To be completely honest, the day we checked in
wasn't my best day.
I was exhausted from our long travels,
and my husband and I had just had a minor argument.
But the moment I sat on the terrace of our room at Tegal Sari
and gazed out at the lush rice paddies,
a wave of absolute peace washed over me.
I thought, 'What's the point of holding onto anger?
I should just be grateful for this beautiful moment.'
The atmosphere and nature surrounding Tegal Sari
are truly that powerful and grounding.
How could anyone stay mad looking at a landscape like this?
My husband even joked that it felt as relaxing as visiting a serene countryside farmhouse 😅

Since we booked whatever was left at the last minute,
we ended up in one of their more spacious rooms.
The bathroom, in particular, was massive—
beautifully antique yet spotlessly clean.
It felt like stepping into the traditional home of a wealthy Balinese local.

Because you are so close to nature,
you will encounter some bugs.
It's nothing overwhelming, but you might see ants or mosquitoes,
so make sure to use the mosquito net over the bed when you sleep!

and perfectly captures the authentic Bali vibe,

Tegalsari Accommodation is located in Ubud town. It's a 10-minute walk to Monkey Forest and a 5-minute walk to Ubud Supermarket. The property is long vertically, so exiting through the front gate takes you to Ubud's main town (uptown), and exiting through the back gate leads directly to Ubud's downtown, where Yoga Barn is located.
The rooms embody the spirit of Ubud and boast what is considered the 'No. 1 rice field view in Ubud.' The bathrooms are spacious, antique-style, and clean. However, as it is close to nature, there may be insects (ants, mosquitoes, etc.), so it is advisable to use a mosquito net when sleeping.
