TeamLab Planets Tokyo Review: An Immersive Art Journey in 2026

If you've seen photos like these, you've probably heard of it. It's called teamLab★Planets.

For someone like me, who doesn't usually go out of their way to visit exhibitions,

"What we've prepared isn't just something to look at,"

"Come and feel it, experience it."

That's what the poster seemed to say, haha.

So, I decided to go.

📍 TeamLab Planets Tokyo
6 Chome-1-16 Toyosu, Koto City, Tokyo 135-0061 Japan

TeamLab Planets Tokyo is located in the Odaiba area.

If you're using a metro pass, you'll need to transfer from Toyosu Station to the Yurikamome Line and go one more stop (Shin-Toyosu Station).

You can take the train, or if you have time, it's also a great option to make a little outing of it and enjoy a leisurely walk through Odaiba while sightseeing.

I took the Yurikamome Line, and after exploring, I took it in the same direction to continue my sightseeing.

Instead of heading back towards Toyosu Station, I went in the direction that crosses through Odaiba.

There were already a lot of people waiting, but...

If you book through KKday, you can enter through a separate line marked with a yellow arrow there,

and instead of the turnstile on the right that you'd use if you bought tickets on-site, I was guided through a special entrance.

(Just show the voucher you received to the info center you see above).

So, I got right in!

After reviewing the precautions and listening to the announcements before entering Tokyo TeamLab Planets, it was time to begin!

Before you go in, you can change into shorts if you wish, and there are lockers available for your belongings.

As expected for such a popular Tokyo attraction, they've really thought of everything!

Since it's an immersive, interactive exhibition, you do enter water. They say it comes up to your knees, but in reality, it's more around your calves. Of course, if you splash while walking, it might come up a bit higher.

This is the first entrance. From the very beginning, there was an enchanting mystery that captivated me.

It's an artwork where you walk against a flowing stream of water,

Hmm, is it just me, or does it feel a bit like a foot-washing station? Haha, I guess that's just my own thought, ruining the artistic mood a bit...

After this, you continue barefoot throughout the entire exhibition.

When you reach the end, you'll find a waterfall, towels to dry off, and a place to sit.

Next up... it felt a bit like a kids' cafe.

(Oh, sometimes when I write down what I truly feel, it just drags these magnificent artworks down to an everyday level... haha!)

There's an area where you navigate through giant cushions.

I imagine kids would absolutely love it, and indeed, they were excitedly running around!

After passing through this atmospheric pathway,

you arrive at a place like this:

You really have to see this place in a video.

While there's a second floor, I think it's the first floor that really put this spot on the map as a must-visit in Tokyo.

Everywhere here, except for the lights, is a mirror, making it a perfect spot to sit back, relax, and snap tons of photos.

Next up is *that* place, where the water finally comes up to your knees!

The lights reflecting in the water? They're fish!

Kids love running around trying to 'catch' them, so be careful not to trip, haha!

It's a setup that kids absolutely can't help but adore, haha!

My personal pick at teamLab Planets Tokyo? It's this one right here.

I honestly think it was the best spot.

Lie down and look up, and you'll see flowers fluttering all around.

What's really fascinating is that whether it's an optical illusion or the floor genuinely moves, you feel a continuous sensation of the ground tilting beneath you as you lie there.

So, if you just lie there, gazing idly at the starry night (?) sky of flowers, you get this incredible sensation of your body floating, truly becoming one with the blossoms – it's an exhibition you really *experience*, haha!

And that's it for the first floor of teamLab Planets Tokyo, but guess what? There's a second floor waiting!

It can be a bit chilly out here, but these particular 'friends' are best experienced elsewhere – you'll truly get their full charm then.

And then comes the eagerly anticipated... (though not my top favorite) spot that's widely known for making teamLab Planets Tokyo famous: the Crystal World.

This is what it looks like when you manage to capture it with no one else around,

But in reality, it's more like this, LOL!

While some people just keep taking photos until the very end, most typically start snapping pictures, then...

You'll find yourself chatting with your companions, or simply lost in silent contemplation. Just a heads-up, there's a time limit for viewing this area, so it's not quite as leisurely as you might imagine.

​I booked my teamLab Planets Tokyo tickets here, and as I mentioned before, it's fantastic that you can enter through a separate line without having to queue up, haha!

So, that's my take on this must-visit spot in Tokyo, Japan. Since it's a truly immersive, hands-on exhibition, I found it to be absolutely wonderful.

It's perfect for a visit with kids, and if you go with friends or a partner, you're sure to capture some amazing photos and make fantastic memories.

All in all, teamLab Planets Tokyo was absolutely amazing!
