Takow British Consulate Ticket Prices 2026: Kaohsiung Guide

Today, I'm sharing Day 2 of my Kaohsiung adventure!

And of course, we can't talk about Kaohsiung without mentioning...

The Former British Consulate at Takow!!

This was actually my second time visiting the Former British Consulate at Takow.

Since it's perched high up on a hill,

the stunning view is absolutely its biggest selling point.

Not only is it a perfect spot for gorgeous photos,

but they also serve a lovely afternoon tea.

It's a super popular spot, especially if you love aesthetic vibes,

so I highly, highly recommend adding it to your itinerary! 💖

There are two main routes

to walk up to the British Consulate.

In my case, I took a stroll through National Sun Yat-sen University first,

and then climbed up the stairs near point C on the map.

The stairs were definitely a bit of a workout,

but the upside is getting to climb up

while taking in this absolutely breathtaking view!

If you climb up via route B,

you'll see this building first before heading up.

But honestly, whichever route you choose, you can't escape the stairs... 😅

This is the ticket booth at the top of the hill.

On the left is the standard admission ticket,

and on the right is the ticket that includes the cruise.

I went with the standard ticket for 99 TWD.

The 30 TWD coupon in the middle

is a discount voucher you can use

at the cafe inside the consulate.

You can also purchase your tickets in advance on KKday!

99 TWD is about ~$3,

and if you buy it on KKday, it's about ~$3,

so the discount is pretty tiny, haha. 😂

BUT!!!!!!!!

If you're planning to get the afternoon tea package,

it's definitely much better to book in advance

on KKday, right?!

Just a heads-up: it's only valid on weekdays!

Since I went solo, I missed out on the afternoon tea yet again... 😭

The weather was absolutely perfect that day.

Honestly, you could just point and shoot and get a masterpiece...!! 📸

I started at the top of the hill,

and then walked down the stairs

to check out the lower building.

They also have a cute little stamp tour,

so of course I had to stamp it... (though I've already lost the paper 🙃)

The interior preserves the vibe of the era

with various historical relics on display.

To be honest... the interior was a bit more underwhelming than I expected.

But since I absolutely love looking at vintage photos,

I spent quite some time exploring the rooms filled with photography.

It gave me a fascinating glimpse into

how Taiwan and the UK first started their diplomatic ties

and what life looked like back in those days.

Let’s be real, the best part of any museum

is browsing the gift shop! ^?^

They even had a free tasting, so I tried the milk tea,

and it was so delicious, I was seriously tempted to buy some tea leaves...

If you head out to the side, there's a dining area.

This spot has the absolute best view at the British Consulate!

But sadly, it’s only accessible to

customers using the cafe or restaurant. 😭

Like I mentioned earlier,

the weather did all the heavy lifting on this day!

With this exotic red-brick building

framed against the brilliant blue sky,

there’s absolutely no way your photos won't turn out gorgeous!

It feels a bit like a tropical resort,

yet with that distinct 1800s vibe.

It almost gives off a Regency era feel—well, it is British after all! haha

All in all, it's such a charming place.

These are actually two different spots...!

This arched terrace

is definitely the most popular photo zone.

But since it's not overly crowded with tourists,

you won't have to wait in any long lines

just to get a great shot.

This is the side facing the harbor and city view.

For some reason, it looked a bit overcast over here,

so the photos didn't turn out quite as vibrant as the other side.

Still, it was wonderful to climb up just a bit

and enjoy such an open, panoramic view.

We headed back down

to grab some mango shaved ice before heading over to Cijin Island.

Since there are quite a few stairs

and very little shade around,

exploring in the hot weather can be quite exhausting.

So, booking a comfortable day tour

that includes all the major sights
