Packing is always the most tedious part of trip prep, isn't it? But for a trip to Takamatsu—where you'll be exploring the outdoor art of Naoshima Island, strolling through Ritsurin Garden, and relaxing in hot springs—you really need to pack mindfully.
There are quite a few things that are surprisingly hard to do without once you arrive. Having just returned from my own 4-day, 3-night trip, I’ve put together a list of everything I’m glad I packed, plus a few things I wish I had brought. I hope this helps you prep for your own getaway!

Make sure you have at least 6 months of validity left on your passport. I highly recommend double-checking the night before you leave just to be absolutely sure!

It’s super convenient to save your mobile boarding pass. Checking in early on the Air Seoul app will save you plenty of time at the airport!
③ Visit Japan Web - Do This Ahead of Time!
Registering on Visit Japan Web before you arrive makes the immigration process so much faster. Once you enter your passport and flight details, you'll receive a QR code that you just show at the immigration desk.
It lets you bypass physical arrival cards completely with just a quick QR scan. Takamatsu Airport is relatively small, so lines usually move fairly fast, but having Visit Japan Web ready speeds it up even more. I highly recommend completing your registration at least 3 days before departure!

Takamatsu's weather in March is pleasantly cool during the day, but it can get quite chilly in the mornings and evenings. You'll definitely want to pack a light outer layer.
Also, your choice of footwear is absolutely crucial. You’ll do a lot of walking between the museums on Naoshima Island, so comfortable sneakers or walking shoes are a must. Trust me, wearing brand-new shoes and ending up with blisters will ruin your whole day.

♨️ Onsen Essentials - What to pack for Busshozan Onsen
The Busshozan Onsen Pass (¥1,300) includes both your transportation and bath entry ticket. While they do have towels and basic amenities on-site, bringing your own personal items will make the experience much more comfortable.

They do provide a towel upon entry, but it’s extremely thin. I highly recommend bringing a slightly thicker towel of your own.

Don't forget to pack a fresh change of underwear to slip into after your relaxing soak!

Hair dryers are usually available, but I'd recommend bringing your own comb or brush. They also sell them at the onsen, so keep that in mind!
