Takamatsu Airbnb Kawaramachi Review 2026: Value & Vibe

When planning our trip to Takamatsu, the one thing I focused most on was, naturally, our accommodations. Since four friends were traveling together, we wanted a space where we could hang out and chat, rather than being split into pairs in separate hotel rooms. Our specific requirements included four single beds and a location that offered easy access to everything. That's why we chose Airbnb Bali Base 508.

Accommodation Location

The absolute best feature of this Airbnb is its location. It's super close to the main shopping arcade, often called the "Myeongdong of Takamatsu," and surrounded by convenience stores and fantastic restaurants. We felt completely safe walking around even late at night. The ferry port and Ritsurin Garden were also within easy walking distance. Plus, the Kotoden train, which takes you to Kotohira, was directly accessible from Kawaramachi Station, just steps away.

The apartment is on the fifth floor of a five-story building. Although it's a compact space, there's a small elevator, making it easy to bring up luggage.

Space Layout

True to our needs, the apartment featured three single beds and one double bed in a separate room, with the living room and kitchen seamlessly connected. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days, rotating who got the private room, and found it perfectly comfortable for four people.

The dining table was our gathering spot each night. While we didn't do any heavy cooking, the kitchen was well-stocked with essentials for simple meals. I was genuinely surprised by the host's thoughtful touch – four different types of coffee beans in the fridge! We even had a manual coffee grinder, so we indulged in the luxury of freshly brewed coffee every morning.

There's also a washing machine, which would be super handy for longer stays. And no worries about towels – plenty were provided, so we never ran out. The bathroom, washroom, and toilet were all separated, which was great. We worried that having only one shower might be tricky for four people, but with slightly staggered wake-up times, it worked out perfectly fine. The host was incredibly friendly and responsive, answering our questions immediately and providing detailed instructions on how to get there and utilize the space.

Value for Money

The total accommodation cost for 3 nights was ~$435, which broke down to about ~$109 per person for the entire stay. For a private apartment of this size and quality, that's absolutely fantastic value for money!

Being able to enjoy such a comfortable, private space for less than ~$37 per person per night truly captures the essence of what makes Airbnb travel so special.

Final Thoughts

One minor inconvenience was the train noise, as the apartment is right next to the station. You could definitely hear the "ding-dong" warning sounds of approaching trains, which is probably why earplugs were thoughtfully provided. We were usually out during the day, and at night we were too busy chatting to notice much, but it was a bit louder in the early morning hours. Especially the room with the double bed (which we rotated using) seemed to get the brunt of the train noise – we joked whether it was a "perk" or a "punishment"! You pretty much woke up with the first train of the day.

Despite this, the convenience for arcade shopping, exploring local eateries, and easy access to Kotohira, combined with the excellent price and ample space for our group chats, made Airbnb Bali Base 508 a truly satisfying stay. My overall satisfaction was well over 90%.

Checkout was at 10 AM, but they even offered luggage storage, allowing us to enjoy some last-minute department store shopping without our bags. Takamatsu isn't about flashy tourist attractions; it's a city where the joy comes from discovering hidden little udon shops and charming old stores tucked away in its alleys. This Airbnb was the perfect choice for immersing ourselves in that authentic, local atmosphere.
