Explore Takamatsu's local side! Discover 5 unique Japanese food souvenirs and hidden gems at Kaldi's Yumetown store, perfect for authentic tastes to bring home.

When you're exploring Japan,
and looking to pick up some unique groceries,
Kaldi is often a must-visit, isn't it?
Takamatsu, being a charming smaller city,
might feel a tad limited for extensive browsing
and shopping, leaving you wanting a little more.
But with just a short, energetic bus ride,
you can easily discover popular spots like Uniqlo, Kaldi, and Loft!
you can easily discover popular spots like Uniqlo, Kaldi, and Loft!

Today, I'll share some must-try Kaldi recommendations from the Yumetown store,
located on the first floor of Yumetown shopping mall, about a 15-minute bus ride
from Takamatsu city center!
📍 Yumetown Takamatsu Store
608-1 Sanjōchō, Takamatsu, Kagawa 761-8072 Japan
The Kaldi in Takamatsu is conveniently located
on the first floor of Yumetown!
You'll spot it as soon as you step inside,
so it's a breeze to find.

Yumetown is a popular destination for Takamatsu locals,
a massive shopping complex buzzing with activity.
Since it's a little further from the city center,
we felt like we were the only Koreans there that day?!

With a fantastic array of stores like Uniqlo, GU, and various sports shops,
if you're looking for some retail therapy in Takamatsu,
a visit to Yumetown alone will surely satisfy.
Today, I'll be diving into five of my top Kaldi recommendations from Japan,
complete with tips on how to use them to elevate your meals.
Clam Broth in a Bottle: Culinary Magic Made Easy!
Moheji Shijimi Soup Concentrate

This clam broth concentrate was quite the Instagram sensation for a while!
While I couldn't track it down at Kaldi stores in Fukuoka or Sapporo, I finally found it in Takamatsu, much to my delight! Haha.
This is a corbicula clam concentrate from Shinjiko Lake,
and if you add just one spoonful to oil-based pasta,
it magically transforms into a delicious vongole pasta!
I often get an upset stomach from eating actual clams, which means I can't enjoy vongole pasta as often as I'd like.
But with this incredible clam broth concentrate, I can still get that rich vongole flavor,
and it's absolutely fantastic!
You can also mix it with hot water for a comforting corbicula clam soup,
or use it as a flavorful base for udon or kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)!
It's a game-changer for getting that rich clam broth flavor without any of the hassle of cleaning fresh clams, highly recommended!
Elevate Any Dish: Effortless Truffle Salt!
Kaldi Truffle Salt

This is truffle salt that comes in a convenient pouch.
This truffle salt is incredibly popular, making it quite elusive in other Kaldi branches,
but I finally managed to snag it in Takamatsu!
It's so light and compact, making it a perfect souvenir or gift to bring back home.
I love to sprinkle it lightly on fried eggs, French fries, and steak to instantly elevate their flavor.
Carrot Ra_pée in a Flash? Just Slice & Mix!
Kaldi Carrot Ra_pée Base Sauce

This is a fantastic carrot ra_pée sauce base.
Making carrot ra_pée from scratch usually means grating carrots and meticulously balancing
olive oil, vinegar, and other seasonings – which can be quite a hassle, right?
But with this incredible base sauce, all you have to do is shred your carrots and toss them in – voilà, perfectly seasoned carrot ra_pée in an instant!
I always keep this Kaldi carrot ra_pée sauce handy to whip up a batch, and it's fantastic for sandwiches, as a filling for gimbap,
or as a fresh side for meat dishes!
Adding just a touch of whole-grain mustard takes it to the next level!
A Flavor Bomb of Crispy Garlic: The Ultimate Rice Thief!
Moheji Ra-yu (Chili Oil with Fried Garlic)

This is a delectable Ra-yu (chili oil) generously packed with crispy fried garlic!
Ra-yu is essentially chili oil, but the one I picked up at Kaldi is extra special because it's absolutely loaded with crispy fried garlic,
making it an absolute hit, especially for those who love bold, savory flavors!
Just a spoonful on white rice, fried eggs,
tofu, or dumplings transforms them into an irresistible meal – it's truly a 'rice thief'!
On days when you're short on side dishes, this one ingredient is all you need to make your meal exciting!
A definite must-try for anyone who enjoys bold, savory tastes!
One Potion, Perfect Lemonade!
Sicilian Lemonade Base

Made with Sicilian lemon juice,
this is a **single-serving lemonade base**.
It's designed to be diluted 12 times.
I usually mix one portion
with 500ml of sparkling water!
It's perfectly delicious lemonade,
without being overly sweet or artificial.
These lemonade portions
aren't heavy at all,
so buying a few to bring back
makes for excellent gifts.
You can even add it to a highball for a refreshing twist!
More Kaldi Products I Picked Up!

✔ SABA Mackerel Cans
These are boiled mackerel
that you can use for stews.
I bought them partly because the cans are pretty,
and partly to test them out.
I wondered if they could be used like canned tuna, but
it seems a bit ambiguous.
Still, they're delicious for stews,
so if you're a mackerel fan,
give them a try!

✔ Royal Milk Tea Base
This is an unsweetened Royal Milk Tea Base.
I actually really wanted to buy this one but
couldn't, which was a shame...
For those of you heading to Japan,
I'm writing this so you can try it out!
It's best enjoyed mixed 1:1 with milk,
but be careful bringing it in your checked luggage;
it seems like there's a risk of it bursting. 😥

✔ Cheese Mayo Sauce
This is a mayonnaise sauce
that contains Parmesan cheese.
I'm a huge fan of mayonnaise, so
I decided to give this a try,
and it's incredibly rich and savory!
It was fantastic with toast.
If you love mayonnaise, I highly recommend it!
Beyond the Kaldi recommendations
I introduced today,
I actually brought back about ten more items,
but many of them ended up either not being eaten
or were just a bit underwhelming!
I'll be sure to compile another list of recommended items
from my recent Sapporo Kaldi haul
and share them with you soon!
Important Packing Tips!
The Shijimi Soup, Layu (chili oil),
and Cheese Mayo are all liquids!
Liquids exceeding 100ml
cannot be carried in your carry-on luggage,
so you'll need to check them in.
For glass bottles, I recommend wrapping them
in clothes for extra protection.
By the way, when I visited in September,
the Kaldi at Takamatsu Youme Town
did not offer tax refunds.
Also, from November 1, 2026,
Japan's tax refund system
will change from immediate in-store refunds
to an airport refund system.
So check out these recommended Kaldi items from Takamatsu
and have a fantastic time shopping on your trip!
