Takamatsu Airport Limousine Bus Guide 2026: Tickets & Hyogomachi Drop-off
Navigate Takamatsu Airport like a pro! Discover how to get limousine bus tickets to Hyogomachi and reach your accommodation seamlessly. Updated for 2026.
Hey there, fellow explorers! I'm Suseukkotdari, and I'm thrilled to share my travel adventures with you.
Kagawa Prefecture, with its warm sunshine and the tranquil Seto Inland Sea, welcomes you. The first stop on any trip to Takamatsu is, of course, the airport.
Takamatsu Airport (TAK) might be compact, but it's brimming with thoughtful touches for travelers. Today, I'm going to walk you through a stress-free journey from the airport into the city center, specifically how to take the limousine bus to Hyogomachi and then on to your accommodation near Kataharamachi.

Arriving at Takamatsu Airport
Your Journey Begins at Immigration

After landing, clearing immigration, and picking up your luggage, you'll step directly into the cozy arrivals lobby. One of the best things about Takamatsu Airport is its small size, meaning a super short walk from plane to exit!
Once you've grabbed your bags and emerged into the lobby, your first mission is to figure out your ride into the city.
The most convenient way to reach downtown Takamatsu is by airport limousine bus. If you're not renting a car, this bus is definitely your best bet.
Getting Your Limousine Bus Ticket

Many travelers ask, "Do I need to book the limousine bus in advance?" The short answer is no, you can easily purchase your ticket right at the airport.
You'll find the ticket vending machines (kiosks) for the limousine bus lined up right next to the arrivals lobby exit.
Look for the 'English' button at the top of the screen – it makes the process super easy! From the destination list, I selected 'Hyogomachi'. For an adult, the fare to Hyogomachi is about ~$7. You can pay with cash or card, and there's often a friendly Japanese staff member nearby to help if you need it.
For four adults, we paid about ~$27 for our tickets.
Buses heading towards Takamatsu city depart from Platform 2.
You can also pay using common Japanese IC cards like Suica, Pasmo, or Icoca. If your card balance is low, it's a good idea to top it up at the convenience store (Seven-Eleven) inside the airport before boarding.
When using an IC card, remember to tap your card both when you board and when you exit the bus.

Keep your ticket safe, as you'll need to hand it to the driver when you get off.
The Secret of the Limousine Bus Schedule: "Buses That Wait for Flights"

One of the most nerve-wracking parts of travel can be the fear of missing your bus. But don't worry, Takamatsu Airport's limousine bus operates on a uniquely traveler-friendly system.
✅️ Flexible Schedule: While there's an official timetable, the buses fundamentally wait for flight arrivals. Even if immigration takes longer than expected or your flight is delayed, the bus will patiently wait for passengers to emerge.
Generally, you can expect the first bus to depart roughly 15 to 25 minutes after your flight arrives, which should ease any worries.
✅️ Platform Information: As you exit the airport, you'll immediately see large numbers indicating the bus platforms. Buses heading to the city primarily use Platform 2. Simply join the queue, and a staff member will help load your luggage into the bus's undercarriage.
✅️ Departure: Buses depart as soon as all seats are filled. If there's a long queue, you might have to wait for the next bus, so try to be prompt!
Hyogomachi

Once the bus sets off, the ride takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes. As you approach the city, you'll start to see countless udon shop signs whizzing by – a clear sign you're in Sanuki Udon country!
Don't worry about missing your stop; announcements are made in both Japanese and English.
After passing 'Airport Street,' 'Ritsurin Park,' and 'Central Park,' you'll soon arrive at our stop: 'Hyogomachi'.
When your stop is announced, simply press the 'stop' button located near the window or above your seat. The driver will stop and personally help you retrieve your luggage, so you can disembark calmly.
A Stroll from Hyogomachi Station to Your Kataharamachi Accommodation

Our accommodation for this trip was an Airbnb, located right in front of Kataharamachi Station. We chose to get off at Hyogomachi because it's a convenient drop-off for the limousine bus.
Stepping off at Hyogomachi, you'll be greeted by Takamatsu's impressive covered shopping arcade. A pleasant 10-minute walk along this arcade will bring you to Kataharamachi Station, and our Airbnb was right nearby.
▶️ The Convenience of the Arcade: Takamatsu's shopping arcade is covered, so you're protected from the weather. Even if you're pulling a suitcase, the smooth pavement makes for an easy stroll.
Follow the Hyogomachi arcade, and when you reach the central dome intersection (often referred to as the 'Luxury Street'), turn right towards 'Kataharamachi'. If you plug your accommodation's address into Google Maps, it's typically a 10 to 15-minute walk from there.
As you walk, you'll discover a charming blend of traditional shops, some nearly a century old, alongside modern, stylish cafes.

The atmosphere around Kataharamachi Station, where the Kotoden train passes by, truly captures the essence of small-town Japan travel.
Final Pro Tips for Travelers

2. Grab a Free Map: The airport information center offers free maps of Takamatsu city in English. While your smartphone is great, there's a certain charm to exploring the arcades with a traditional paper map.
3. Udon Pass: You can pick up an Udon Pass at the airport information center. It includes various discounts, so be sure to grab one and make the most of it!
