Takamatsu 5-Day Trip Cost 2026: A Friends' Budget Guide
Get the inside scoop on budgeting for an unforgettable 5-day trip to Takamatsu, Japan, including a visit to Naoshima, based on a recent 2026 friends' getaway.
Hello everyone!
I'm Soosukkotdari, and I'm here to share my travel stories!
My friends and I recently took a spring trip to Takamatsu in 2026.
It was a fantastic 5-day, 4-night adventure.
We split our accommodation, spending three nights at an Airbnb and one night
at a luxurious ryokan.
We even made it to Naoshima Island!
Wondering how much it cost for such a fun-filled Takamatsu adventure over
5 days and 4 nights?
For anyone planning their own Takamatsu getaway, I'm going to break down all the expenses in detail.
📍 Travel Period: April 18th - 22nd
Group Size: 4 people

Takamatsu Flights

We planned our Takamatsu trip in February and booked our flights right away on Trip.com.
Later, due to rising fuel surcharges (because of war-related issues), I was so glad we booked early! 😉
✅️ February Flight Price: ~$207
Transportation

We pooled our money for transportation, food, and other expenses, so I don't remember all the tiny details.
I wasn't the treasurer, after all! 😉
But I do remember our transportation costs, so I'll lay them out for you.
Takamatsu isn't a huge city, so we actually walked to most places.
Airport Limousine Bus
✔️ Airport → Hyogomachi: ¥1,000
✔️ JR Kotohira Station → Airport: ¥2,000
✔️ Naoshima Ferry: Round trip ¥1,360
✔️ Naoshima ¥100 Bus: 3 rides, ¥300
✔️ Train: Kataharamachi Station → Kotohira Station:
¥730
✔️ Bus: Yume Shopping Center → Kawaramachi Station: ¥200
Total Transportation: ¥5,590
Accommodation

For our accommodation, we chose an Airbnb and a ryokan, both suitable for our group of four.
✔️ Airbnb (3 nights): ¥65,000
Per person: ¥16,250
✔️ Kotohirakadan Ryokan (1 night): ¥99,400
(Includes dinner & breakfast)

We paid admission fees at two places:
The Chichu Art Museum in Naoshima and
Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu.

Shopping & Personal Expenses

I did a lot of shopping, but I didn't buy much at Don Quijote or
drugstores. What really stood out was buying Adidas
sneakers at Yume Town.
They were 15,000 yen.
Strawberry milk-colored Adidas aren't common, so I bought them, and I think I got them for about ~\$7 cheaper.
And I bought some clothes too!~~
Plus, several Udon kits!~
Shopping & Personal Expenses: Total 26,825 yen
Miscellaneous

The biggest portion of miscellaneous expenses was
food and snacks.
We had some truly delicious meals on our gourmet tour, including Honetsukidori, Gyoza, Yakiniku,
and various udon dishes.
Excluding Naoshima, prices seemed similar to or
slightly cheaper than back home.
Food & Snack Expenses: Total 19,235 yen
Takamatsu Travel Expenses Total Summary
Here are the amounts converted to USD.
Category | Amount (USD) | Notes |
Flights | ~$207 | |
Transportation | ~$38 | Ferry, Airport Limousine |
Accommodation | ~$278 | |
Admission Fees | ~$22 | Chichu Art Museum, etc. |
Food & Shared Expenses | ~$130 | Food, Snacks, etc. |
Shopping & Personal Expenses | ~$182 | Incl. Airport Lunch |
Travel Insurance | ~$11 | |
Total | ~$868 |
One expense not included is the eSIM, which I received as a sponsorship from USIMSA, so it didn't cost me anything.
If you generously add about ~\$7 to my calculated costs, that should cover the eSIM expense.

Considering we even visited a premium ryokan said to have hosted the Emperor, I really think this trip was incredibly cost-effective at this price.
The room we stayed in at Kotohirakadan originally costs about ~\$146 more than this price, but luckily there was a ~\$146 discount event, so we truly got a great deal.
