Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo Review 2026: Budget-Friendly Stay
Looking for an affordable stay in Kyoto? Our 2026 review of Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo highlights its surprising comfort and efficient design, perfect for budget-conscious travelers.

Hello, I'm Ongsang.
My friend and I took a spontaneous trip to Kyoto!
After a quick search, I realized that
hotel prices were a bit steeper than expected.
So, we decided to give up on staying in the city center,
and the value-for-money hotel we found was
Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo.
Since the price was quite affordable, I honestly didn't have high expectations,
but once we stayed there, I was surprisingly impressed!
Especially, true to Japanese hotel style,
they really utilized the small space incredibly efficiently.
If you're looking for a great value hotel in Kyoto,
I hope this review helps you out!
Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo
📍 Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo
391-1 Shiogamachō, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, 600-8103 Japan
📍 Check-in: 3:00 PM
📍 Check-out: 11:00 AM
📍 Approximately 5-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station
📍 Approximately 6-minute walk from Gojo Station
📍 Approximately 15-minute walk from Nishiki Market
I traveled from Kansai Airport
to Kyoto Station on the Haruka train,
and then took the subway to the hotel.
While it's not right in front of Kyoto Station,
getting there wasn't difficult at all.
And being slightly outside the city center,
it was actually quieter at night, which was perfect for relaxing.

Check-in was incredibly easy too.
The hotel had really good
Korean instructions and signage.
Double Room: Is it good enough for two?

Japanese hotels can be really, really compact, right?
But as soon as I stepped into the room,
I thought, 'Oh wow? It's wider than I expected!'

Even with my friend and me sharing it,
it barely felt cramped at all.
The bed was spacious and comfortable, so we slept soundly.
I found out that all their rooms
use Sealy mattresses.

Even in a small space, they managed to fit everything: a refrigerator, a table and chairs,
and even hangers.
The layout felt very convenient too.

What I loved most was that we could slide our luggage
right under the bed.
Putting them under the bed as per the hotel's suggestion
made the room feel much more spacious and comfortable to move around in.
Japanese hotels truly know how to maximize small spaces!
Things I Loved About the Room

There was a power outlet right next to the bed,
which made charging my phone super convenient.

The TV allowed us to watch YouTube,
which was perfect for unwinding with my friend after a day of exploring.
Amenities and Free Rental Service Were Also Fantastic

Inside the room, there weren't any disposable items
like toothbrushes or razors.
Instead, you could pick up whatever you needed
from the first floor.

I borrowed a hair curler,
but they also had phone chargers, steam irons,
irons and ironing boards, shoe dryers,
thermometers, and other items you might need during your trip.
There were quite a few items available.
For those who want to lighten their travel load,
this kind of service seems like a real plus.
Guest Facilities Were Excellent Too!

There was a laundry room, a microwave, an ice dispenser,
and vending machines.

It looked perfect for longer trips or as a convenient stopover
during a journey through Japan.
Nearby Amenities and Location
Right near the hotel,
you'll find a Seven-Eleven.
While it wasn't huge,
it was perfect for grabbing a quick drink or snack.
A short walk further brought us to Lawson,
so my friend and I would pick up snacks every evening
and enjoy them at the accommodation, winding down the day.

Nishiki Market was also about
a 15-minute walk away,
so we'd leisurely stroll there in the morning
and arrive without a fuss.
This location is absolutely perfect for those who want to explore during the day
but also enjoy some quiet relaxation back at their accommodation.

Here's How I Handled My Luggage After Checkout
After checking out, I left my luggage at the hotel
and went to complete my final itinerary.
This time, I even tried a luggage delivery service
from the hotel to the airport, and let me tell you,
getting around without my bags made the last day
so much more comfortable!
I'll share more details about this, along with photos, in my next post!
